The Vestry: in Richard Burton's Home Town!

Description

You will be occupying a large well-equipped room with en-suite bathroom in our family house. Miles of beautiful forest and river trails await you on the doorstep: this is rated one of the ten most desirable mountain bike destinations in Europe. At night hear the sound of the river and the owls calling across the valley, before falling asleep in comfort. In the morning enjoy the beautiful view as you sip your tea at the table by the window. The space We live in an old stone chapel house built in 1867, standing slightly raised up and looking out over the village and the valley. You will have a large room with a King-size bed and full-size single day-bed. There is a table with chairs in front of the window, which looks out over the valley, and a comfy armchair. The room is large with room to relax and unwind. The views are beautiful. The bathroom is large and well-equipped. Guest access The guest suite occupies almost half of our upstairs space. It is accessed via the front door and the staircase. The bathroom is en-suite for guests' use only. Breakfast and other meals are not provided but the room is equipped with Kettle, Toaster and Drinks fridge, plus crockery and cutlery, tea and coffee-bags, etc. Sorry no coffee-maker now. Just two minutes walk from the house is a shop that sells all the basics, and next door to that is a takeaway that does pizza, kebabs, burgers etc. You are welcome to bring anything back to have. Do bear in mind this is a family home. There are the two of us at present plus a friend who lives with us. We presume that guests will respect that and treat the accommodation well, including noise and behaviour. Our house is no-smoking. Other things to note This is the birthplace of the famous actor Richard Burton, who along with partner Elizabeth Taylor was a regular visitor back to his favourite place. A huge mural that seems to look at you, created by artist Dave ‘Gnasher’ Nash, is on the side of the Miners Arms pub where his father used to go – and his parents met and married. It's just 50 yards from our house. It's a GREAT photo opportunity. Come and have a picture with the mural of the man himself! We are two minutes walk from the iconic aqueduct, which is in the "Mr Burton" movie. There are special Richard Burton trail walks, his birthplace trail and his childhood trail: there are interactive maps for both trails on the dramaticheart wales website; look for the link for the birthplace trail. Be transported back to Richard Burton’s early years, learn about how the landscape and community shaped him and how his legacy continues to inspire the region.
