The space The Farmhouse forms the historic heart of The Parks, a RIBA award-winning restoration and reinvention of a traditional Herefordshire farmstead surrounded by open countryside. Dating from the 16th century, the house has been carefully restored to retain its historic character while providing the comfort and convenience of a contemporary home. Original timber beams and the character of the old farmhouse sit alongside oak floors, contemporary bathrooms and a modern, well-equipped kitchen. The house is generously arranged for families and groups of friends, with plenty of space to cook, eat and spend time together, as well as separate areas in which to relax. The living spaces connect directly with the garden and surrounding countryside, making the house equally enjoyable for summer stays and cosy weekends away. The Farmhouse sleeps up to eight guests across four bedrooms. Its combination of historic rooms, exposed structure and contemporary additions gives each part of the house its own character. Underfloor heating, an air-source heat pump, high-speed fibre broadband and extensive new insulation provide modern comfort within the restored historic building. Outside, guests have their own garden and outdoor spaces while remaining part of the wider setting of The Parks – a peaceful rural farmstead where historic buildings, landscape and wildlife have been brought together to create a distinctive place to stay. Guest access Guests have exclusive use of the whole house and its private garden and patios. On the ground floor there is an entrance hall, laundry/boot room, generous open-plan kitchen with breakfast bar, living room and a separate dining area with wood burning stove. Upstairs are four double bedrooms, one with an en-suite, a family bathroom, all set within the vaulted roof space. Other things to note The Farmhouse forms part of the RIBA award-winning redevelopment of The Parks, where the historic buildings have been carefully restored alongside extensive improvements to energy performance, landscape and biodiversity. The barn has been newly insulated throughout and is heated by an air-source heat pump with underfloor heating, supported by solar panels on an adjacent building. The wider grounds are managed with nature in mind. A new wildlife pond and areas of habitat have been created to encourage biodiversity. Bats are frequent visitors, barn and tawny owls can be seen and heard around the farmstead, and dozens of species of birds have been recorded. The Parks is part of a small, peaceful rural community and we ask guests to enjoy the house and outdoor spaces with consideration for our neighbours and the surrounding countryside. Two parking spaces are provided for guests at the Hay Barn. A third space can usually be made available by prior arrangement. We hope guests enjoy sharing this special rural setting with its wildlife and experiencing how the historic farmstead and surrounding landscape are being brought back to life together.
