Originally the store-room and garage of the house, this cottage was recently transformed into a modern bungalow with a kitchen/living-room, a bathroom with shower and a bedroom. It offers privacy and sea-view, day and night peaceful environment, a beach at 3-minute walking distance, immediate hiking opportunities. The space The cottage is a small 2-level house, with the living-room and kitchen on the first level, and a 8-step stair leading to the bathroom and sleeping room, which is nevertheless connected to the living-room by a huge 2X2 opening. All rooms have ground-floor access to outside areas, due to the inclination of the ground. The cottage is a secondary building in a 4000 sq. meters (one acre) plot, with the main building being the vacation house of a Thessaloniki family. The place is rural. Olive and pine trees dominate the area, with a few houses here and there. The cottage is located 500 meters (half a mile) after the village of Ouranoupoli, the last civil community on the way to the Mount Athos, a religious state of 20 orthodox monasteries, a UN World Heritage Monument. Ouranoupoli itself, a scenic village within 10 minutes walking distance, features grocery stores, doctor, pharmacy, a number of remarkable fish taverns, and of course gyro, pizza and religious souvenir shops. The shoreline is long with many beautiful sandy and not-so-sandy beaches, some organized with sunbeds, umbrellas and food service, most free and wild, the kind that becomes increasingly scarce. There is such a beach in front of our place, at three minutes walking distance. There are other attractions apart from the beach and holy graals. The hills surrounding the area are walkable and offer hikes from 30 minutes to several hours walking circles. The main value of our place is, to us, peaceful atmosphere. Apart from seasonal farm sounds as a remote chainsaw, roosters, dogs or cars passing by, silence is usually disturbed by bird sounds, (nightingales at April and May nights), the call of the wild coyottes from the surrounding hills, and often the sound of sea waves.
