Gorgeous Dartmoor home in pretty village with pub
Description
At the end of a lane in a pretty village, this spacious house and its relaxing gardens offer tranquil views over rolling hills and a vast sky. The ambience is calm, the fresh decor and furnishings are warm and country-cosy. A friendly historic pub and church are a 5 minute walk, a playing field and playground next door. The village is on the edge of a national park, with woods, a river to swim in, and a myriad paths to explore. Chagford town and stunning Dartmoor walks are an easy drive away. The space The house, made of wood, is approached down a small lane and it is the last house on the right, enveloped by a copse of birch trees. There is room for four cars in the driveway, entered on a fairly tight turn from the lane. There is a porch for outdoor boots and a large welcoming hallway. Leading from the hallway is the cosy living room, with a woodburner, TV, piano and games. Next to the living room is a private, pretty downstairs bedroom with a double bed. There is a small bathroom - toilet, basin and shower room - which is part of the utility room, with a washing machine and dryer and access to the back garden. A few steps down from the hallway is the large farmhouse kitchen with a pantry, fridge, dishwasher, oven, dining table and all the usual kitchen equipment. The kitchen has a comfortable sitting area with a sofa, armchair and rocking chair. There is also a desk and wireless printer available for homeworking. There are two sets of stairs leading from either side of the entrance hall. One leads to the master bedroom, with a super kingsize bed, and the family bathroom with bath and shower. A few steps further up is a third double bedroom, which has two doors, one from each staircase. The second flight of stairs leads to both the twin room and the middle bedroom, both with beautiful views. The glass doors in the kitchen fold back onto two patios - one is part of a circular garden with flowers, and the other looks across the sloping lawn to the hills. There is a large comfortable daybed to while away the hours taking in the view, in addition to a barbecue and plenty of garden furniture for relaxing or eating and drinking. There is direct access from the garden to the village playing field, which has a football pitch, goal posts and a children's playground. The village church and thriving, unique historic pub (owned by the community) are five minutes walk from the house. Longer walks lead straight from the house to the River Teign, ideal for paddling or wild swimming. There are paths through the woods, along the river, and up onto the famous Hunter's Path, with views across Devon. Other good destinations within walking distance are Castle Drogo and the delightful Fingle Bridge pub on the river. Chagford, a bustling small town, is about an hour's walk through the woods and along the river. Dartmoor is an easy drive away, with its dramatic rocky outcrops, ponies, quaint villages, and many long/short or circular walks outlined in books at the house. Guest access Guests can use the whole house and gardens.
