Description
A cute and comfy beach chalet on the edge of the sand dunes within walking distance (15 mins) of both Upton Towans and Gwithian beaches. There are two bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the other with two single beds. There is parking for two cars at the back and side of the chalet. Wifi, tv with Chromecast, Echo speaker, dishwasher and washing machine. Bedlinen, towels and electricity are included. Unfortunately no dogs are allowed. Change over days this year are on a Friday. The space The chalet sleeps 4 comfortably. There is a sofa bed that can be used to accommodate an extra guest. There is bedding for this in the utility cupboard and I just ask that you pay the extra to cover the laundry cost. There is also a cot/toddler mattress (available by request, no extra cost) that can be put on the floor for young children. The open plan living area has a new kitchen with everything you need. I provide a sunflower oil as that is something that I always forget to bring and it can be a pain having oil in the car on a long journey! There is seating outside and extra chairs in the guest shed at the back of the chalet (turquoise door). Guest shed also contains a windbreaker, sun umbrella, bucket to wash out wetsuits, body boards and a sledge for surfing down the dunes. Patio doors lead onto the decking area, where there is a dining table as well as an outdoor sofa for relaxing. There is also a BBQ which can be used on the grass (not the deck). In the kitchen there is a dishwasher and washing machine as I find this helps maintain family/friends harmony when on holiday in a shared space. Electricity is included in the price. In the main bedroom is a king size bed from Loaf (firm tension). The twin room is also a kingsize bed that can be 2 x single beds or zipped together to be a king. One side is firm, the other, medium tension. I leave them set up as two singles but if requested or you wish, you can join them together easily which can be nice for two couples. The bathroom has a bath with an electric shower and a heated towel rail which can be operated from outside the bathroom door along with the water heater and shower switch. Sadly, the heated towel rail will not dry your towels. Both the bathroom and the back bedroom are north facing so nothing dries in there. It is best to bring out the towels and put in the living area to dry during the day while you are out. Wifi is Starlink (the Elon Musk service) so its quite good. I often work from home at the chalet and apart from some Teams meetings, the wifi is good enough. I can also recommend a co-working space in Camborne if you need it. Last year (2024) was year 1 for the chalet and each year I am upgrading the fixtures and furnishings. Please note that some changes are not always photographed such as the fabric sofa is now a vanilla coloured leather sofa as the fabric one was picking up too many marks. I try to keep the styling the same but pick and choose furnishings depending on how they are being used by guests. Guest access Guests can check themselves in with the key from the lock box and code details will be sent before your holiday starts. Other things to note The chalet is on a site, Gwithian Sands Chalets, a group of around 30 chalets, all in different private ownership and offering different levels of service and different prices. Despite the signs, there is no reception for the chalet site (which is in different ownership to Atlantic Coast). The land is owned by another family. The rules are: 1. Quiet times are from 10pm to 8am. 2. No hen or stag dos 3. No dogs on site between July and August. The best beaches (Gwithian) do not allow them either. Please note that there is a road on the other side of the hedge. Soundproofing materials have been added to the wall nearest the road as I am noise sensitive. Some people prefer this side of the site to the other where the children play on the dunes. Cornwall is not quiet especially in holiday season! The chalet is offered on a self-catering basis and is booked back-to-back for the holiday season. I work full time so if any issues arise during your stay I will try to resolve them. Occasionally the cleaner will forget to leave something. If you can resolve the issue yourself, great and I will refund you or I can call someone out to assist. Due to planning and other restrictions, the chalets are only open from March to October each year. The chalet has been recently refurbished so there is insulation under the floors and in the ceiling which stops it getting too hot or too cold. However, they are timber buildings in a field and occasionally the field tries to take them back. 2024 is the first year it has been rented for many years as it fell into disrepair. The chalets are classed as commercial property so you are not adding to the housing issues in Cornwall by staying here. If you use the bbq, please drag it near to the tarmac and away from the chalet to reduce the risk of fire. If you are wondering why the Friday changeover, the traffic getting to Cornwall is terrible on a Saturday and, if you arrive on a Friday, you get the full weekend. Any other questions, let me know.
