Description
Built in 1820 in the Federalist style, our farmhouse sits on one acre of partially wooded land directly across the street from the Neshobe Golf Course. The house has 3 bedrooms (sleeps up to 6), two and half baths, a kitchen, a dining area, a library, a sitting room, and a media room. The house’s greatest claim is an original mural hand painted by Brandon’s long-term artist-in-residence, Warren Kimble. The Nest, an outbuilding that sleeps up to 4, can be rented for an additional $60 per night. The space Our house is a very special place and we absolutely adore it. It's a quintessential New England home with wide-plank floorboards, a clawfoot tub, large windows and a wood stove in both the library (gas-powered) and the kitchen (wood). But it's also an old home with some old-time, quirky features - most notably the stairs. Stairs: The house has two flights of stairs - one at the front of the house (normal spacing) and one at the back of the house (particularly narrow and steep.) Anyone with unsure footing should avoid using the back stairs. Babies/toddlers should not be allowed near these stairs and the elderly should exercise caution. Bathrooms/Showers: We have two and a half baths. The full bathroom on the second floor is quite lovely with wainscoting, a step-in shower and a clawfoot tub that overlooks the side yard and back woods. A perfect spot to take a long soak at the end of the day! The shower in the first floor bathroom is particularly small and is more suitable for children. In time, this shower will be updated. But the water is hot and the pressure is just right! A big plus after a day at the lake or up on the slopes. Air conditioning: There are air conditioning units in all 3 bedrooms of the main house in addition to one unit on the first floor. The Nest is also equipped with an air conditioning unit. Guest access To enter, use the side door at the back of the house. When standing at the back of the house, you will see a sliding door. This is not the entrance! Instead, continue walking up the foot path and follow the house to the left. The side door through which you will enter and exit is on the side of the house closest to Route 73 and the Neshobe Golf Course. Other things to note We have many small outbuildings on the property: the garage, The Potting Shed, The Dairy, Cozy Dell and The Nest. The Nest (bedroom 4 pictures) serves as a bunk house and can sleep up to four people and is available at an additional fee of $60 per night (1 Queen and 1 full-sized bed). Although it is has both heat and AC, it does not have a bathroom or running water. With the exception of those instances wherein a guest requests use of The Nest, all outbuildings will remain locked, including the garage. Please park outside at the end of our driveway. The driveway is on the right side of the house (not the left – that’s the neighbor’s). The driveway can accommodate up to four cars.
