The apartment is cozy but open. The living spaces are open-floor plan while the bathroom and bedroom are more private. It is stylish yet comfortable, personal without the clutter. Quick access to I-59 and I-45 makes it easy to get to points further afield, such as the Medical Center. The space The apartment is on the first floor of a beautiful old brick home built in the 1920's with elaborate eaves and a covered front porch. There are four adolescent live oaks on the corner-lot property. There are two other apartments on the property, one on the first floor and the other comprising the entire second floor. The apartment is approximately 750 square feet large. There are four steps up the front walkway to the front porch and the front door. The front door opens onto the living space. The living area has a large sofa and a 32" television with cable. The contiguous dining area features a table that seats up to six. The galley kitchen has just been installed and is equipped for six with dayware, vintage glassware, pots, pans, bakeware and basic condiments and spices. There is an electric range with vent, microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal and refrigerator, as well as smaller appliances like a toaster and drip coffee maker. A small hallway separates the living areas from the sleeping and bath quarters. The bathroom has a full-size tub with shower, a sink and toilet. Linens are provided. The bedroom features a queen-size bed with two nightstands, dresser and slipper chair. A large closet is shielded with a curtain and can accommodate hanging clothing, shoes and extra linens. Two window units cool and heat the apartment, one in the living room and the other in the bedroom. There are 11 windows in the unit, a front and back door. The windows are covered by cloth Roman shades for light and privacy. The Abode is perfect for university/graduate students, convention center guests, medical center visitors and other travelers passing through Houston looking for well-cared for, clean accommodations who will respect the property, enjoy it and help keep it nice for the next person. Guest access Guests have access to the front porch and any portion of the backyard. There is a dedicated parking space under the rear carport. There is also random street parking for guests. There is a laundry room (one washer and one dryer, both coin-operated). Other things to note The apartment is not far from a train crossing and there are horns that are sounded during the day and night. The city has yet to designate the crossings as no-horn zones, but that has been proposed.
