“The Hoodsport Beach House”
“The Hoodsport Beach House”
Description
Welcome to The Hoodsport Beach House. Right on the water centrally located in Hoodsport, WA. Highly rated scuba diving (Octopus Hole and Sund Rocks near by). Grocery store, restaurants, gas station, hard ware, brewery, ice creamery, distillery, gift shops, wine tasting and a tavern/ bar all a short walk up the driveway. Take a day trip, casinos, golf, hike all near by. Swim, fish, kayak, beach combing (on your own private beach). Please enjoy the beach, but sorry NO SHELLFISH HARVESTING ALLOWED. The space Just one of the unique features of the house is how close to the water that it actually is. At high tide the water rolls under the deck. Either inside the house, or lounging on the deck, you’re only a couple feet from the water. When the Chum salmon are in, they swim in schools right in front of you. They are usually followed by seals that put on quite a show trying to get a meal! Great scuba dive location with a gentle slopped gravel beach in front of the house for beginners, to Octopus Hole and Sund Rocks for intermediate just North. Expert excursions are also available and depart from the town dock (YSS dive is local with air and mixed gas). Parking for up to 6 vehicles. There is also a gate that helps prevent small children from “wandering”. Note: Hoodsport has low speed limits and the house is below and far enough from the Hwy. 101 that noise is usually not an issue. The open concept house has three bed rooms (all with king size beds), two bathrooms and a private office. The large back bedroom has one king and three twins. It also doubles as a family/ kids room with a new 65 inch big screen and a large collections games and dvd’s. The living room features expansive views of the canal, a gas fireplace, guitar and vintage Sansui receiver and turn table. Please feel free to play an album or mate the blue tooth puck to your device (iPad/phone) to play your own music. The kitchen has a new stove and all the pots, pans, untensils, knifes, etc…. That you might need. Note: the kitchen fridge is smaller and at "reach in height" for condiments, snacks, coffee creamer etc…. There is also a large side by side in the laundry room down the hall with an ice maker/dispenser in the door. Hoodsport has unique weather. With the Olympic range right behind it, it can create a “blue hole”. There are days when it can be raining just 15 miles North and South and sunny in town. During the winter you can find snow just a few miles up the hill at Lake Cushman. Guest access Entire house. Shop and boat are not accessible. Please feel free to contact Lou (our host) for possible early check in. If the house has been cleaned, it should be available! Other things to note It has been rumored that a pirate ship wrecked on the beach just South of the house during a storm from a brutal Southerly one winter back in the 1800's. It was supposedly carrying diamonds, gold, silver and marbles!!! By some "miraculous" event, marbles are still washing up on the beach in front of the house "finders keepers"! Should you be Lucky enough to find some, please take some home as a memento. If luck be with you and there is a lot of "booty" on the beach, please leave some for the next round of "Treasure Hunters" AAARRRRRRRRRR! Hood Canal was also one of Jacques Cousteau’s favorite diving locations! During the winter months it has some of the clearest water visibility on the West Coast.
