Book now and experience the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation, all in an unforgettable place. Guest access The wooden house sits on piles, being raised from the ground combined with 30' high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling sliding doors to keep the house cool throughout the year, allowing the ocean breeze to blow through the right (Mother Nature's own AC!). Being elevated also maximizes the views. More than 500 palm trees have been planted in recent years, giving the house a lot of shade and the feeling of being inside a tropical oasis. The house has 4 bedrooms, each with a full bathroom. In the center of the house is the main living room, dining area with a full open kitchen. The space is magnificent and perfect for spending time with family. If you long for a more private place to read a book or maybe do a little meditation, the property has lawn areas and lots of shady places to hang out and relax, as well as a couple of small seaside pergolas, ideal for sunsets and sunrises. The pool is filled with ocean water, which is very good for the environment and also for the skin. The kids love it too. There is a shaded pool area and it is ideal for young children to splash and play. Apart from direct access to the ocean, there is also an estuary beach (on the mangrove forest side) that has no waves and is very safe even for small children. Most endemic species are found here: four-eyed fish, violin crabs, herons, and pelicans. Other things to note The Turtle Sanctuary offers its guests a unique and unparalleled experience of immersion in this unique ecosystem. The house was designed with nature and the ocean in mind, with the intention of keeping the habitat intact and at the service of the endemic species that live in the area. From the early days we have partnered with the local community to protect endangered sea turtles and more recently we have worked on a stronger conservation initiative. Experiencing a sea turtle laying eggs or releasing turtle hatchlings on the beach is a truly magical and memorable experience. The best season for this activity is between June and November. Let us know if you are also interested in this activity. The price of a dozen turtle eggs (for them to nest on the property) and to help support turtle protection is $50. Ready for an adventure? Great! We can organize night tours of the canal to see the different marine species and nocturnal birds. We've seen starfish, eels, crabs, snails, and more. We can also get you in touch with whale and dolphin watching excursions. Whales pass through here from December to February on their way back north. If you're looking for something more exciting, we can arrange a day of deep sea fishing. Tuna, sailfish, marlin and mahi mahi abound in these waters. Please contact us and we will be happy to make arrangements for you. Please note that probably our favorite part of the house is what we call the three Ns: NO AC / NO TV / NO WIFI. The Turtle Sanctuary is a place of rest, contemplation and recovery. There is a strong telephone reception / regular telephone line service and roaming.
