Description

Escape the hustle and bustle and immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature with a unique glamping experience. All the comforts of home but with no WiFi or electricity! Enjoy a short hike up to the cabin where you will find a cozy queen-sized bed inside a well-equipped, converted 1800’s corn barn, complete with an outdoor kitchen and breathtaking views. Step back in time as you experience our clean and well maintained outhouse/privy. We are minutes from hiking and biking trails! The space Begin your adventure by parking your car in the lower field next to Green Mountain Timber Frames and walk 10 minutes uphill, through our gardens and young orchard, to your cabin retreat in the meadow. Step inside to discover a beautifully designed space that seamlessly blends rustic charm with modern comforts. The cozy interior features a comfortable queen bed adorned with soft linens, ensuring a restful night's sleep with an incredible view of the stars. Unplug and unwind as you sip your favorite beverage in front of the wood stove, perfect for cozy evenings spent stargazing or reading by candlelight. Prepare your meals in the outdoor kitchen, and dine al fresco on the deck and soak in the breathtaking views. Water to outdoor shower and kitchen has been shut off for the season due to freezing temps at night. We will provide extra gallons of water that can be heated on the grill's gas burner or on the wood stove inside the cabin for washing up. We will also provide a portable camp shower. It is a 3-gallon 'Nemo Helio Pressure Shower' that can be filled with water heated on the wood stove. As night falls, relax by the firepit or retreat to the comfort of your cabin and drift off to sleep to the soothing sounds of nature. Full-moon nights are especially spectacular! Moonlight fills the cabin as it makes its way across the night sky. This 16 by 18 foot corn crib barn was originally built in Greenwich, New York during the mid 1800s. It is a hand hewn American Chestnut structure that was carefully disassembled, restored, and then re-erected as a meadow retreat on the edge of our young orchard. Come to this cabin to experience luxury camping. If you are interested in learning more about the restoration of this 1800's corn crib into the Meadow Cabin check out our episode on Restoration Road with Clint Harp. Season 5, episode 3, titled Vermont Corn Crib. Other things to note Getting to the Cabin In order to maintain the integrity of the meadow, we ask that guests park at the bottom of the hill and hike in with their belongings. In some cases we may be able to assist with load-in and out upon request. We ask that you make every effort to arrive during daylight hours. If you will be arriving after dark, please have a headlamp or other light source with you for the walk to the cabin. Depending on weather conditions be prepared with hiking or winter boots. Spring in Vermont can get muddy in places. Lighting in the Cabin There is no electricity in Meadow Cabin. We provide battery operated candles and lanterns. Please remember to turn them off when not in use. We will also provide a small solar charger for phones and small devices. There is no WiFi at the cabin. AT&T users may be able to get some service in the meadow. Outdoor Kitchen All cooking should be done outside the cabin. There is a covered porch where you will find a gas grill with a standard burner, a sink with non-potable running hot and cold water (seasonally). We also provide a french press, tea kettle, basic pots and pans, dishes and utensils. Please feel free to ask about what is available before staying. We do not have refrigeration, but provide a Yeti cooler for use during your stay. Please bring your own ice. Water Access We will provide 5 gallons of drinking water. Water for the heated outdoor shower and to the sink for washing dishes is captured from rainwater off the roof. This is a limited resource and we hope that you be mindful of your water consumption. Please note that running water is not available during the freezing months, typically November to May. Bathroom Facilities The cabin features a lovely heated outdoor shower with privacy for changing. Please note that the shower is seasonal (May - October). Guests have access to a clean and well maintained traditional outhouse which is a short walk from the Meadow Cabin. Please note that this outhouse is shared by guests who may be staying in our Woodlands Cabin. Fire Starting and Fire Wood A working knowledge of fire starting and fire safety is important if you wish to use the woodstove inside the cabin. There is a small wood stove in the cabin for those chilly nights and an outdoor firepit. We will provide you with one bundle of firewood. Additional firewood may be purchased for $10/bundle. The cabin is well insulated and comfortable in the winter if you are experienced with lighting and maintaining a wood stove.
