Cojitambo Shelter

Description

Refugio del Cojitambo is a bahareque cabin located just minutes from Mount Cojitambo, offering panoramic views of the Andean valleys. The cabin has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a queen bed. A fully equipped kitchen, a campfire area, and a lookout point. With a dry toilet and shower (mountain lodge style), comfortable and clean. 5 minutes from Cojitambo Hill: Inca ruins, rock climbing, hiking, shops, and restaurants; 30 minutes from Cuenca; in a very peaceful setting. The space The cabin has three levels. Downstairs, you will find a small but comfortable kitchen, equipped with the necessary utensils: electric stove, pan, pot, dishes, and cutlery. We do not have a refrigerator. As part of the project's philosophy, the kitchen is a vegetarian space; we ask that you do not cook meat or use the utensils for that purpose. If you are a meat-eater, you can bring your own utensils or enjoy the dining options in Biblián, just minutes away. Also on the ground floor, there is an integrated dining room and a small living room. On the first floor, there is a queen-size bed in a space that can serve as a second bedroom or as a relaxation and reading area. On the second floor is the master bedroom, with a double bed, a sofa, a shelf, and a reading lamp. From here, you can access a balcony with views of the town of Biblián and the Iglesia del Rocío. The balcony is connected by a wooden bridge to a bathroom with a sink and a changing area (no toilet). The dry toilet and shower are located outside, under the gazebo, with easy access, total privacy, and in pristine condition. The electric shower overlooks the Andean valleys. In Cojitambo, there is no sewage system, and as an eco-friendly project, we aim to have as little impact on the environment as possible. The dry toilet is a logical part of this philosophy, not a deficiency. Outside, next to the cabin, there is a campfire area where we provide you with enough firewood for the duration of your stay. Here, you can also cook in a clay pot. This space is connected to a viewing area where you will find hammocks to enjoy the sunset, as well as a table with folding chairs if you prefer to dine outdoors. The property is spacious, ideal for walking, exploring, and connecting with nature. There are trails that start right from the cabin, and from here you can walk to Cojitambo Hill. Guest access You have full access to the entire cabin and the property. Check-in is via physical key; we will give it to you in person upon arrival. The trails on the property are free to use throughout your stay. Other things to note There is enough tank water for a normal stay; please use it responsibly. The cabin has a conventional electrical connection in all areas. Bring a flashlight or portable lamp in case you need it at night, although we do have outdoor lighting around the cabin. It is a rural setting; there may be insects, animal sounds, and variable weather, which are part of the Andean experience, but it is a safe area with very friendly neighbors. Access to the property is via a gravel road; it can be reached by public, private, or personal transportation. There is cell phone coverage in the area.
