Description

Spacious and modern. Rustic and peaceful. Wood fire stoves (x2!). Two story elevated deck, complete with outdoor furnishings and hot tub. Bring the whole family to our home with lots of room for fun. In the heart of the Apple Hill. Easy commutes to South Lake Tahoe (60mins), historic Placerville (10mins), Coloma River (30mins), Shenandoah Valley Wine Trail (40mins) and the Sacramento Airport (60mins). Please let our home be your jump-off to making wonderful memories in Apple Hill. There are three steps to enter the home (sorry, not wheelchair accessible). Steep (but short) driveway, with plenty of parking for our guests (snow chains advised for winter months). Easily accessible, without noise pollution from the freeway. Situated in a residential community with lovely neighbors. This is not a property to host parties or loud events, but does offer tranquility and friendly faces on your morning walk, with enough privacy to appreciate being out in the woods. The property is on 3/4 of an acre, and although the rear of the property is not accessible to guests due to a steep grade, the wooded terrain gives the feeling of an elevated treehouse, particularly while enjoying the spacious deck. The rear double-deck patio is large enough to host your entire group, while you unwind in the heated spa, or enjoy the propane fire pit. Due to lack of accessible yard, we kindly ask you leave your furry pets at home. Four private bedrooms (primary king on the upper level, and three queens on the lower level), and three full baths (upstairs primary en suite; upstairs with shower/tub combo; and downstairs standing shower with full washer-dryer combo). The upper living space is large and open concept, perfect for groups that like to mingle while they cook or eat dinner. The dedicated dining area can seat your entire party. Upstairs full kitchen is stocked with all the essentials, and opens to the upper patio with a propane grill. There are two wood fire stoves in the home (therefore the home tends to have a mild smokey aroma, particularly when being used in the winter months). Instructions for how to safely build a fire to warm the home are included (the stoves are for heat, not for roasting s'mores, etc). The lower living room has a couch that converts into a queen size sleeping space with sheets and optional roll out futon mattress (this is the home's fifth bed). Also downstairs is a large 86" HD TV, with a Roku for guests to stream their personal subscriptions. The card table is downstairs, which can be converted into a ping pong table or air hockey table. NOTE, converting the table between formats requires two adults, due to weight of the tabletop. We have plenty of board games for our adult guests, as well as book/games/toys for our younger guests (target ages 1 - 5 years). There is an indoors staircase that connects the upstairs and downstairs, and available baby gates to help our younger guests remain safe. The outdoor deck also has a staircase, with a latched gate at the top entrance of the stairs. Please inquire about using our Pack-N-Plays for your young ones for a supplemental fee. Our family personally fell in love with the Apple Hill area, and we hope you do as well! It's perfect for our two young children, and hosting grandma and grandpa too. There are always activities to discover. The region is known for its U-pick apple orchards, vineyards with wine tasting rooms, bakeries/cafes as well as seasonal attractions (such as picking a pumpkin for Halloween or chopping your own tree for Christmas). We have been impressed with the restaurant scene of the Placerville area, both quality and variety. And there are so many other outdoor activities within a short drive. South Lake Tahoe is an hour away, while closer attractions include rafting in Coloma, skiing at Sierra-at-Tahoe, boating at Jenkinson Lake, or endless number of hikes with watering holes and waterfalls to discover. However, we request guests refrain from exploring the rear terrain of the property, due to steep incline (there is a chain link fence demarcating this area). We will strive to make your family vacation as memorable and comfortable as possible! Due to the unpredictable nature of weather in the Sierra Foothills and the potential for unforeseen circumstances, we strongly advise you to purchase travel insurance. The region is subject to extreme heat and wildfires in the summer/fall months, and blizzards with difficult road conditions in the winter/spring months. This additional measure is recommended to safeguard your investment in the vacation, as refunds cannot be provided beyond the scope of the applicable cancellation policy. As a policy, for new travelers on AirBNB (guess with no prior trips or reviews), we request an additional refundable deposit.
