Description
Escape to a secluded retreat of quiet luxury on the Causeway Coast. Set within three acres of meadow and woodland, Sunlew Hut at Peatlands offers peaceful accommodation in nature. Watch Irish hares in the meadow, enjoy fresh sourdough and croissants from our award-winning artisan bakery, and slow down in a setting inspired by the nearby nature reserve. Peatlands reflects a love of sustainability, nature connection, and artisan craft — a calm base for exploring the coast or simply staying put. The space Peatlands is a peaceful nature escape between Ballymoney and Portrush in County Antrim—only 45 minutes from Belfast International Airport. Our guest retreat includes two luxury shepherd’s huts (Sundew Hut and Curlew Hut) and we’re proud to be certified “Guest Accommodation” with a 4-star (“Excellent”) grading from Tourism NI. We also have a small artisan bakery here on site. Guests can order our award-winning sourdough and start the morning with a bakery breakfast including rye croissants, pain au chocolat or cinnamon knots straight from the oven as well as our premium house granola and other local specialities. Each of our luxury shepherd’s huts is secluded in its own generous patch of natural landscape in the extensive grounds, complete with a private boardwalk and deck. Irish hares regularly visit to forage and rest and the little ones have even been seen napping in the plant pots on the hut decks! Our bespoke, hand-built huts have been thoughtfully designed and beautifully crafted, with little details that make a big difference. Inside, you’ll find your own private shower room with fluffy towels and luxury toiletries. The king-size bed is dressed in premium cotton bedding, and there’s plenty of storage in the wardrobe and under the bed. High-speed Wi-Fi is available in both huts and the smart projector streams TV, Netflix, Disney, etc. Each hut has a mini library of books and games and lots of little touches for you to discover and enjoy! Please just let us know if you need to work during your stay - we can provide a sit-stand laptop desk for added comfort. The kitchen comes fully equipped with a fridge, microwave, oven, double hob, kettle, coffee maker and toaster, utensils —everything you need for easy meals. Alongside the wood-burning stove, there’s an electric heater and heated towel rail to keep things snug. Insulated with sheep’s wool, the huts stay warm in colder months and naturally regulate temperature year-round. Outside, you can settle in beside your private fire pit for cooking, stargazing or just enjoying the quiet. Feel free to stroll around the meadow, kitchen garden and woodland, and enjoy countryside walks in the nearby lanes and nature reserve (entrance approx 1 km from Peatlands). We’re also perfectly placed for exploring the North Coast: Portrush, Dunluce Castle and Bushmills are all about 10 minutes away, while the Giant’s Causeway, Dark Hedges and Portstewart are around a 15-minute drive. We offer free parking plus secure cycle storage on site. Guest access Guests will have their own hut, boardwalk and deck area, as well as access to the large garden, pond and woodland. A communal indoor space, "The Nook", can be used freely by guests to collect firewood or charcoal, hang out damp clothes, use ironing facilities and washroom, consult maps and other tourist info, etc.
