Description
From the upper house of the old ferry house, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Waal, Zaltbommel and the bridge. It is the ideal place to explore the Betuwe and is centrally located between Utrecht and Den Bosch. The apartment is a dike house and due to the thresholds and height differences not accessible for a wheelchair. The space You enter the huge kitchen that has all modern conveniences, including a Bora hob, a microwave oven and a steam oven. In addition to the long wooden table and the cooking island, the old workbench, a Portuguese tile tableau and the large amount of glass storage jars stand out. Feel free to use the available supplies. In one of the jars are the coffee beans for the coffee maker. The kitchen has floor heating. In the hallway between the kitchen and the living room, there is a staircase cupboard where cleaning supplies and the vacuum cleaner are located. You will also see a hatch. This hatch gives access to the lower floor and the basement. The hatch is closed. The lower floor has its own entrance and is rented separately. The living room has a built-in wood fireplace and access to the large terrace with views over the Waal. A comfortable sofa with TV and a nice chair with ottoman to read a book. The living room also has floor heating. The floor is covered with sustainable cork, which feels wonderful on the feet. In good weather, the doors to the terrace can open and you can enjoy the fantastic view over the Waal, Zaltbommel and the bridge. Colorful cushions for the sofa on the terrace are within reach in a large chest. In the stairs upstairs, you can see prints of the feet of the house cat, who could not resist taking a walk through the wet concrete. The house cat is no longer there. Watch your head! The beam above the stairs does not bend. Upstairs, directly to the right around the corner, you will find a toilet. It takes some getting used to, because the door folds open, like a closet. The light switches on and off automatically. The bedroom has a built-in bathroom in hamam style with antique copper faucets. The bathroom is finished in original tadelakt. Tadelakt is a plaster material of lime, mixed with white marble stone marble. It is originally a type of stucco from Morocco. It is a natural product that has the disadvantage that it gets color differences when it is wet and that it can dissolve when it comes into contact with acidic cleaning agents. So please do not treat with cleaning agents 🙏🏻 PLEASE: DO NOT use the bathtub. There are a number of cracks in the tadelakt. There is a chance that it will leak, and if that happens, the problems are enormous. I built the bed high so that I can also look at the Waal at night. On the sloping wall, there is a TV, should you wish to watch a movie in bed. This TV does not always work due to poor WiFi coverage. There is a generous amount of closet space. One of the two hanging cabinets is closed, my own clothes are hanging in it. Please do not use any items from the drawers. If you need anything extra, could you please let me know? Then we will arrange that for you. I have stored my private belongings in the room next to the bedroom. I myself have lived in this upstairs apartment for 27 years and rent it out because I am making a long trip. My neighbors have taken over the management. Some things will not be all that logical, but so normal for me that I forget to explain them. For example, I use remote controls for lighting. They are in a fixed place. That might take a little getting used to. Please put them back where you found them. There are no spare ones! Guest access You have the entire upper house to yourself, including the large terrace overlooking the Waal, Zaltbommel and the bridge. The downstairs apartment has its own entrance in the garden downstairs. Guests enter through the gate next to the house and can use the garden. You can park in the parking lot opposite the church. Please do not park at the neighbors' houses, that is quite sensitive. Of course, you can just stop temporarily in front of the door when loading and unloading. It might be useful to turn on your hazard lights to indicate that you are there temporarily. If the parking lot is full, you can park your car at Molenstraat. That's 80 meters back. I apologize for any inconvenience. Other things to note Check-in time is from 2 p.m., check-out 11 a.m. If this does not work, please contact us. I'm sure something can be arranged. I have taken all possible measures in the area of sound insulation, but it is always necessary to take the residents of the lower floor into account. Their bedroom is directly below your living room. After 10 p.m., it is better to have animated conversations in the kitchen (there is no inhabited space underneath).
