Swallow Shepherd Hut

Wood Lane Shepherd huts are based at Ruby Farm, which is a working family farm. It is situated in South Devon, within a quarter of a mile to the quaint village of Abbotskerswell which boasts a pub and cafe. Torbay with its beaches is a 15-20 minute drive and Dartmoor can be reached within 30 minutes. The shepherds hut itself has a double bed, kitchenette and bathroom. It is south facing and situated in a field rich with wildlife and boasts formidable views across the surrounding countryside. The space Swallow Shepherd hut is the ideal place to get away from it all! It is entirely off grid but with a number of facilities to make your stay both comfortable and cosy. For heating there is a small wood burning stove. Solar panels provide the power for a number of usb charging sockets via a 12v battery (there is no mains electricity) The fully equipped kitchen area comes with saucepans, a frying pan, crockery and cutlery along with a two ring gas burner and a small sink. There is a comfortable double bed with storage underneath. Bed linen and towels are both provided. Running warm water is available courtesy of a small gas fired water heater and supplies both the taps and the shower. The bathroom also has a flushing toilet and small sink. Our sister hut Skylark shepherd hut is located nearby and is also available for booking. Other things to note There is an outdoor area for guests to use which includes a table, chairs and fire pit. The field where the huts are situated is accessed off a farm track and may not be suitable for vehicles with particularly low ground clearance.
