The original part of a lovely thatched and characterful cottage that makes the perfect country retreat for anyone wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of busy lives! Located in the centre of the stunning Chalke Valley village of Bowerchalke, this peaceful Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is a fabulous destination for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. Salisbury, Shaftesbury, the New Forest and Stonehenge are just a short drive away. The space Fully self-contained and with a private entrance, this picturesque cottage has 2 double bedrooms, 2 shower rooms, a cosy sitting room and a dining area. The main guest room is a lovely size and overlooks the garden at the back and has an ensuite shower room. This bedroom has a King size bed (5ft) and there is plenty of space for a cot. The second bedroom has a small double bed (4ft6) and there is a second shower room on the ground floor. The cottage is equipped with a fridge, microwave, cutlery, crockery, kettle and coffee machine for breakfast and simple meals but please note there is no kitchen or cooking facilities; we encourage you to eat at the wonderful pubs in Broadchalke and Ebbesbourne Wake! We have a travel cot and highchair if required. Parking There is parking for 3 cars. Outside Space There is a small area of the garden which we would love you to use to watch the bats and the birds and listen to the owls! Just be aware that we have a friendly Springer Spaniel who may come and say hello! Please note, no BBQs are permitted as it is a thatched property and the insurance does not allow. During your stay We are on site ‘next door’ if needed and love to meet our guests and give nuggets of advice on the local area if required. However, we will respect your privacy completely. Other things to note Walking This is the most beautiful area for hiking and you can walk for hours directly from the cottage. This is a great location to explore the whole of the Chalke Valley, Vernditch Woods, Martin Down, and take in the fabulous views from the Bowerchalke Downs. We have 2 wonderful pubs; The Horseshoe in Ebbesbourne Wake (a 40 minute walk across the fields) and The Queens Head (a 50 minute walk along the valley). Cycling The area is very popular with cyclists. From scenic country roads offering expansive views to quaint village lanes, there is something for everyone. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) provides ample opportunities for both mountain and road biking enthusiasts, with plenty of quiet roads and off-road tracks to explore, ranging from circular routes to linear paths. Options suitable for all skill levels and ages. Golf There are 3 golf courses within easy striking distance: Rushmore Golf Club at Tollard Royal, Salisbury & South Wilts Golf Club, and High Post Golf Club at Great Durnford.
