Description

This charming, trinket box cottage is nestled on the edge of the historic Forest of Dean and the breathtaking Wye Valley—offering you the very best of both areas. Whether you’re planning a romantic escape for 2, a peaceful break from everyday life, or just a getaway with your beloved furry friend, this beautiful area has everything you need. The cottage is a welcoming home away from home, perfectly placed for whatever adventures and memories you’re ready to make. The space As avid Airbnb users ourselves- we’ve drawn from our own experiences and tried to set out the cottage with everything that we would like to have for a stay away from home. The cottage is a self-contained detached property, within the curtilage of the main house with its own entrance and private and secure courtyard garden. There is a seating area where guests can sit and savour a morning coffee whilst enjoying the fresh air or maybe unwind with a glass of wine, under the stars, after a long day exploring. A charcoal fed bbq is available upon request should you fancy some el fresco cooking (bring your own coals). Inside, the cottage features an open plan living space. Downstairs you'll find a cosy lounge area with a Smart T.V, a selection of board games and books inspired by the local area (Sammys walks picks out some of the many great local walks in the area to chose from) A breakfast bar and a well-equipped kitchen with all necessary appliances and utensils are at your disposal to rustle up something to set you up for the day ahead. A wrought iron spiral staircase leads upstairs to an open and airy bedroom, with a comfortable double bed, the Emma Premium mattress should help to ensure you have a good nights sleep. The additional Smart TV in the bedroom is a good excuse to cwtch down and watch a film in the evening, or catch up with the news in the morning with a coffee in bed. The newly renovated bathroom has a large enclosed shower, perfect to freshen up after a long walk, a toilet and a sink. Dogs are very much welcome here at Wye Dean, at a small additional cost of just £10 per stay. All breeds are accepted! Guests and their furry friends are welcome to use the paddock (entrance from the car park) and dog wash area within the stable courtyard to wash down after muddy trek through the woodlands. Bowls and towels are provided to help ensure your four-legged companions have a good holiday too! Not forgetting the treat tin in the entrance area/porch. The cottage itself is just a two minute walk from the woods, from which Symonds Yat, Yat Rock view point and the River Wye can be accessed. We have pushbikes available for guests to use but we highly advise if you want to do something a little more adventurous, like downhill MTB'ing, then guests are welcome to bring their own bikes or hire them from one of the local bike hire facilities. There’s no shortage of things to do nearby: wander the woodland trails, take in breathtaking views from Symonds Yat Rock, discover a bit of the Forest’s industrial heritage, or cycle along the scenic old railway lines. For thrill-seekers, there’s mountain biking at the Forest of Dean Cycle Centre (just 20 minutes away by bike), paddleboarding, or canoeing. If relaxing is more your style, you’ll find great pubs serving hearty food and local ales, or you can explore charming towns like Coleford, Monmouth, and Ross-on-Wye. It’s your getaway- do it your way! Guest access Guest have their own gated access to the entrance of the property and a private patio area from the lane. Other things to note There is a spiral staircase that guests must be capable of using to be able to access the bedroom and bathroom. We kindly request that guests do not leave dogs unattended in either the cottage, garden or paddock. Please ensure gates are properly closed behind you, the lane can be abit of a wind tunnel and a slamming gate isn’t going to survive long. And the double gates leading onto the lane- We also have dogs with as much road sense as a toothbrush. All house rules are in the listing and also in the welcome pack in the cottage. Parking for the cottage is not directly attached to the property but on our private graveled driveway where entry to the paddock is also located.
