Bordering the pristine wilderness of the University of Denver 720 acre Mountain Campus and near the wilderness expanse of the Roosevelt National Forest, wildlife sightings are common among the majestic pines far from the sounds of traffic or city life. A quiet property for the true escape to nature. Only 1.4 miles off the main Red Feather Lakes Rd. 74e, and only 45 minutes to downtown Ft. Collins. The space This chalet has two bedrooms and a loft with a forest view from every window including your bathroom. Each bedroom has a Queen size bed, two nightstands with ports to charge your smart phones and iPads. The larger bedroom has a work desk and sitting chair. Upstairs in the loft, you will have a full queen size pull out couch available along with a dedicated work space under a large window with views into the forest. The loft also has a television set and games for kids. Your kitchen looks onto the dining and living rooms and is fully stocked with everything you need to cook gourmet meals. You will have a toaster, blender, stocked spice rack, potato peeler and many other common kitchen essentials you don’t always find in a vacation rental. Outside you will find more than an acre of forest exclusively for you to enjoy. In every direction you can see more forest and hear wind across the tops of trees. Many deer live in the vicinity along with moose, elk, mountain lions and lots of wild turkeys. On the back porch you can barbecue or relax in the large glider next to the convenient lava rock gas fire pit to stay warm at night and tell ghost stories. In the daytime, many Roosevelt Nation Forest hiking trails are a short drive away. Lady Moon Trail is among the most well known a few miles up the main road. The Red Feather Lakes Village is only 7 miles or 15 minutes up the road. Surrounded by 4 public fishing lakes and 8 private fishing lakes, Red Feather Lakes Village is a mountain fisherman’s mecca. You can fish West Lake, Dowdy Lake, Parvin Lake and Lake Bellaire with a Colorado fishing license easily available in the Village from the Outpost General Store and Deli. The private lakes can also be accessed for recreation or fishing so don’t forget to ask your host for details on how to get one. Last but not least is the the last of eight historic fire lookout towers in the Front Range of northern Colorado and southern Wyoming. The Deadman Tower has not been permanently staffed since 1970, but the tower is operational and open to the public in the summer on weekends by volunteers. You will need a high clearance vehicle to travel down Deadman Road across from the Potbelly Resturaunt to reach the tower. It is a scary climb to the top but well worth the effort for the picture opportunities and unparalleled forest views for many miles in every direction.
