Description
Graded 5 Star by Tourism NI, our tiny cottage dates from the 1700s. Its name is both a nod to Bird Island on Strangford Lough and a reflection of our aim to create a cosy nest in which guests feel snug, comfy and relaxed. The cottage has recently been renovated but retains its historic charm. The furnishings are a mix of antique, vintage and second-hand finds that come together to create a cosy, relaxed, eclectic vibe that's stylish and reflects our commitment to recycle and re-use. The space The Tourism NI 5 star grading awarded to this charming, cosy two story traditional cottage on Main Street Greyabbey reflects the quality of the accommodation on offer and the priority given to guests' comfort during their stay. The open plan layout of the ground floor maximises sociability,. allowing guests to take advantage of the new kitchen with its Belfast sink and modern appliances, while continuing to enjoy the company of their partner or visiting friends and family. The period style shower room has a large shower enclosure with an electric shower. There's a vintage pedestal wash basin and the restored mahogany toilet seat is sure to be a talking point! The sunny back courtyard has a seating area and provides access to a private garden, recently planted with native apple trees and a barbeque area with a picnic table. Upstairs, the charming, romantic bedroom is flooded with light from the large skylights and the original dormer window overlooking Main Street. The ornate antique French cast iron king-size bed, luxurious white cotton bedding, reading area and antique writing bureau make this the perfect place for relaxing. A full-length vintage cheval mirror allows guests to check their appearance when going to a wedding and critically, for brides and grooms to do so too, should they choose to stay in this very special place. Guest access All areas of the property are accessible to guests to enjoy throughout their stay. Other things to note Orange Tree House, a popular wedding and conference centre, is a 5-minute walk away – even in high heels or on bare-foot, if needed, on the way home! There is free parking on Main Street, and in two public car parks close by. As the bathroom is located downstairs, fun dressing gowns from our "Duvet Day" collection are provided. Guests can travel by bus to other areas of the Ards Peninsula and into Belfast from the aptly-named Antique Shop bus stop right outside the front door. Steep external steps at the front door together with some internal steps and the narrow staircase sadly mean that the Little Birdhouse is unsuitable for anyone with mobility difficulties. To avoid the risk of triggering guests' allergies, we are unfortunately unable to accomodate pets.
