Description

Ideally located at the port of Becquet, which was created in the 2nd half of the 18th century to allow the rockfill of the Cherbourg dike, this house was bought by my grandfather in 1937, himself a native of Becquet, and remains our vacation home today. His grandfather was a professional fisherman and sailor on the lifeboat of this small port, which has now become a marina. The space You will be seduced by the marine character of this small house, with its wooden partitions, its beams on the ceilings, its narrow staircase recalling the interior atmosphere of a boat. Its proximity to the sea and direct access to the harbor, the originality of its architecture (vertical flat stone construction) as well as the rhythm of the tides will delight you. You will find Collignon Beach 200 m from the house by the coastal road, which will allow you to fully enjoy this clear and invigorating water, at the same distance the indoor municipal swimming pool for the more timid, the shopping mall 150 m away will give you sufficient autonomy for your daily shopping and the proximity of Cherbourg 5 km away, accessible by bike path, will allow you to discover this port city rich in history. It remains for you to take great walks on the steep cliffs of La Hague, the wild beaches of La Hougue, or through the grove to discover many small villages and their granite churches, fortified farms, as well as manors and castles, not to mention the many vestiges of the last war, which contribute to the architectural and cultural richness of the region. Guest access The house: You enter directly into the living room, the kitchen is perfectly equipped to cook good meals during your stay. You have, among other things, a filter coffee machine, a Nespresso and a dishwasher. Continuing to the living room, and an extension that allows you to store your bikes, and access the toilet and laundry area. The dining room is located on the veranda to make the most of the harbor view. The shower room is also located on the ground floor. The floor offers two bright bedrooms, the beds have a standard size (140/190). You wake up, in the blue room, facing the sea and hear the lapping of waves on the boats. - We don't forget the little ones and offer on request everything a baby needs: baby bed and its bed linen and high chair. Other things to note La Maison du Pêcheur will be your anchor point for visiting Cherbourg and Cotentin: -The Cité de la Mer in Cherbourg is a must-see when visiting the Cotentin peninsula, as is Port Racine, the Ravalet Castle in Tourlaville, the birthplace of Jean-François Millet, and the last home of Jacques Prévert. - You will stay 50 km from Utah Beach, about 100 km from the Calvados landing beaches and 120 km from Caen. - For sports enthusiasts, the Collignon Nautical Centers offer a wide range of activities: sailing school with initiation for little sailors, scuba diving, paddle boarding, sea wading, kitesurfing. Horseback riding centers are also accessible. - For sea lovers, Sciotot Beach is a famous surf spot, the Biville dune massif offers a magnificent landscape and a playground for children. It's an unusual walking idea that will allow you to discover abandoned tanks from the 2nd WW. Do not forget the hikes to Nez de Jobourg: "The highest cliffs in Europe" are, after Mont-Saint-Michel, the most visited place in the English Channel. This sensory experience is simply unforgettable" (france-randos.com) - Feel free to check out Céline's profile for ideas for outings in the Val de Saire.
