Other things to note PETS: We are dog friendly (maximum 2 dog policy). Food/water bowls for use are provided. We kindly ask that you bring your own dog beds/blankets as dogs are not permitted on the furniture. CELLULAR SERVICE: Please note that cell service in rural Vermont is not the greatest. Be sure to enter the destination in GPS when you start your travels. The cabin is equipped with high speed internet. ‼️ NATURE ALERT: It’s important to note that we are in the woods nestled in nature. In recent years, the area has seen an influx of Asian lady beetles. These beetles invade homes typically during the fall seeking shelter for winter. While we do treat for them professionally, they are a nuisance that is hard to control. Flies, moths and other flying insects are also common during the warmer months. 🐞🦟🪲 🪟Please be mindful when opening doors and windows. SPRING BOOKINGS: It is important to note that this time of year in Vermont is known as mud season. And the Vermont sugaring season is in full force - this is when sap is collected from the maple trees to produce nature's liquid gold AKA maple syrup. What does this mean for you? We strongly discourage the use of low profile vehicles and 4WD/AWD is recommended. The combination of rising temperatures, snow melt and trucks hauling sap from the sugarwoods creates for some pretty rough road conditions. The cabin is located off approximately 3 miles of dirt roads, and depending on weather conditions, portions of the road can become extremely soft with deep ruts. WINTER BOOKINGS: Winter is a wonderful time to visit us at The Gambrel Mountain Retreat - it’s truly magical when everything is covered in snow! However, as our name implies, we’re in the mountains. What does that mean for you? We strongly encourage AWD/4WD and good winter tires. GUIDEBOOK: Check out our Guidebook for local groceries, restaurants, activities and more!
