Nestled in the pretty historic village of Eyam, (The Plague village), it is perfectly positioned to make the most of the hilly green valleys of the surrounding Peak District National park. The space There is plenty to do and see in the area, whether it is exploring the local villages or taking a visit to nearby grand historic houses such as Haddon Hall and the famous Chatsworth Estate. There are countless varied walks in the Peak District but if you want to leave the car behind, you can take wonderful walks right from the doorstep, so be sure to pack your walking boots! @jacobsbarneyam The space The stone built barn dates back to 1709 and has recently been sympathetically renovated with the vision of creating a space that reflects modern country living. The barn is a beautiful open plan living space decorated with earthy neutrals and natural materials - think ancient oak beams, exposed stone walls, latch doors and an impressive inglenook fireplace with a log burner. The bespoke shaker style kitchen exudes country charm, with large French windows opening out into the garden. It is complimented by oak beams and work tops and a stone window cill. Cosy evenings can be spent relaxing in front of the log burner in the living area. A bespoke staircase with open treads leads the way upstairs. The master bedroom is a magnificent room which has been opened up to the rafters revealing the large oak supporting beams.There is an exposed stone wall with inset stone features. The bespoke kingsize bed is made up with a luxury linen quilt and 1500 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets and pillow cases . Bedroom number two is a charming room which has again been opened up to expose the supporting beams. There are two windows with stone cills looking out into the garden. The beautiful king size bed is dressed with similar bedding. The large family bathroom features an exposed stone wall framing the modern free standing bath where you can wind down after a busy day, or if you prefer, a walk in large rain drop shower. Noble Isle hand and shower gel products and soft fluffy towels are provided to add that special touch of luxury! There is a patio area at the back of the barn with seating where you can sit and enjoy your morning coffee or relax with a glass of wine in the evenings. At the top of the pretty terraced garden is a stone ‘love seat’, (just for two!), where you can enjoy the views over the rooftops and the countryside beyond. Guest access Jacob’s Barn is situated on the main route through the village with free on street parking at the front. (This cannot always be guaranteed), however it its very unlikely that you will be unable to park there). Please DO NOT park in the parking space allocated to the cottage next door. Access to the property is from the back and there is a key safe to the side of the French doors on the wall on the right with a four digit combination. This will be sent to you a few days prior to your stay. Other things to note We offer complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, cooking oil and milk on arrival. An initial supply of logs, smokeless coal and firelighters will also be provided for you. If you require more these can be purchased at the garage at Calver Sough crossroads a couple of miles away. We are dog friendly but we please ask that your dog stays downstairs at all times to avoid additional cleaning or laundry charges. Due to the open tread staircase this property may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties or young children Due to the terraced garden and steps this may pose some risk to young children.
