Description

A cosy cottage nestled in the heart of Calstock, Cornwall. Located on a pedestrianised street for minimal noise and maximum relaxation. Free local parking less than 200m away. Boasting a roll top bath, a roaring log burner and a fully equipped kitchen. We welcome up to two dogs but upstairs is out of bounds. All within a stone's throw of the local pubs, art galleries, a café and an award winning ice cream parlour. Great for dog walkers, nature lovers and bird fanatics. The space The entrance of the cottage leads into a generously equipped kitchen and dining area, suitable for up to four. A cleverly designed kitchen promotes social interaction with the rest of the living space. Whilst being a small kitchen it boasts a hob, oven, under counter fridge/freezer, toaster, microwave and a slimline dishwasher. With ample storage space, quality pans and a good variety of utensils, cooking on holiday won't feel like a chore. Useful basics such as oil, vinegar, salt and pepper are provided along with a selection of complimentary teas and coffees. The open plan downstairs flows into a spacious yet cosy living space. A variety of seating provides a adaptable space centered around a roaring log burner, an atmospheric treat to stay warm in the colder months. The television folds down from the ceiling, providing entertainment, without taking the focus from each other's company. A selection of games fill the cupboards, to provide fun for all ages. The stairwell boasts bespoke stairgates to provide safety/boundaries when necessary. With the cupboard under the stairs containing any cleaning equipment you may need during your stay, as well as a first aid kit, fire extinguisher and fire blanket. A iron and ironing board is also available. As you make your way up the stairs, past the bare stone wall, you are greeted by a reading nook on the landing. Furnished with an armchair and a bookcase stocked with an eclectic selection of books for you to peruse. Bedroom one has double bed, dressing table (equipped with a hair dryer) and a clothes hanging space. Original features with added modern luxuries make for a comfortable and tranquil space. Bedroom two comprises of a super king bed which can be split into two single beds for guest flexibility. Also boasting a dressing table and clothes hanging space. Last but not least, the bathroom. A double ended roll top bath commands the room, complimented by large walk in shower. An old Welsh dresser has been tranformed into a vanity unit to complete the room. Calstock is a medium sized village, nestled in the historic Tamar Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With train links into Plymouth and a short drive to Tavistock, close proximity to Dartmoor National Park and both the North and South Coast within easy driving distance, it's the perfect place to base yourself to explore Cornwall and West Devon. The Tamar Valley train line is considered one of the most beautiful in the country and allows you to spend the day in Plymouth, with its gorgeous Barbican and Hoe, restaurants, shopping, cinemas and theatre and allows you to return to the peaceful countryside in the evening. The quaint, seaside towns of Looe and Polperro are a short drive away, as well as the breathtaking Whitsand coastline. National Trust properties, Anthony, Buckland Abbey and Saltram are also within easy reach and Cotehele is within walking distance of the village. The recently established wetlands in Calstock are fast becoming a nature lovers' paradise, with sightings of beavers, otters and peregrine falcons. The Eden Project is less than an hour's drive away. The Tamara Coast to Coast Way passes through Calstock, a newly launched path from the North to South coast of Cornwall. Please note, the cottage does not have any outside space. However, it is on a pedestrianised street and is a two minute walk from the village green, which has communal benches. The whole cottage is yours for the stay. Other things to note As per Airbnb rules, we are not able to accept third party bookings. We welcome respectful dogs, children and adults.
