Cottage in Bassenthwaite, Lake District

Welcome to Chapel House Mews. This lovely mews cottage sleeps two people in comfort. The cottage has a pretty garden, shared with the resident chickens. A peaceful retreat for couples looking to enjoy the Lakes, fells and outdoor pursuits. Skiddaw provides an inspiring backdrop to the village and you can find some of the best ways to climb it from the door. Keswick and Cockermouth are nearby and it's a short walk to the local pub, which has a welcoming atmosphere, great menu and is dog friendly. The space The property has an open-plan kitchen and lounge area. The lounge area has sofa, armchair and a TV with freesat, DVD player and a Radio / CD player. There is a fold-out table for dining and there is a piano for guests to use (please note it is not regularly tuned). The kitchen has an electric hob, oven and grill. There is also a microwave, undercounter fridge with freezer compartment and a dishwasher. The washing machine can be found in the lobby. The double bedroom is also on the ground floor, along with the bathroom which has a bath with electric shower over, WC and basin. Outside there is a cobbled courtyard with parking for one vehicle. The shared garden is split into two sections. The first part has a seating area and then beyond this is a small gate to a larger garden with chickens in it (please don't take pets into this part of the garden). The Sun Inn Pub is a short walk up the lane by the beck in the village. Best to book if you want to eat. There is a shop for basics at Trafford's Caravan Park a little way along the A591: Traffords Caravan Site shop is now open for the season. Shop hours at the moment are Monday to Friday 9 am to 10am 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm Saturday and Sunday 9.15 am to 4.30pm Other things to note We are new to AirBnB but have been running Chapel House Mews as a holiday cottage for many years. Cottage had everything needed, and helpful owners. Very nice pub in the village is only about 15 minutes walk away, and it was a bonus to be able to climb Skiddaw directly from the village without needing to drive. Reviewed by Kestina 9th July 2023 Lovely quirky and comfortable accommodation, friendly and welcoming owners, perfectly situated within walking distance to the beautiful Basenthwaite Lake and also to climb the nearby hills. Had lovely meals at The Sun Inn, again a nice stroll from the cottage. Wonderful for a relaxing break Reviewed by Fran 27th May 2023 Lovely quiet cottage, ideal position away from main traffic routes. Everything you could possibly need in terms of equipment, bedding, reading materials, some cooking essentials, basics for a hot drink when you arrive, etc. Beautiful hens! Not much in the way of local groceries, but Keswick and Cockermouth have plenty. We brought the makings of a few meals with us so were able to survive for a few days. Lots of nearby footpaths, especially if you can read an OS map. We would definitely go back!
