Cottage in Mid Calder Village near Edinburgh

This cottage, originally built in 1805 is in the heart of the historic conservation village of Mid Calder, West Lothian. Mid Calder is surrounded by beautiful countryside and woodlands. Situated less than 2 miles to Livingston with excellent shopping. We are only 12 miles from Edinburgh city centre, with regular buses and trains to get you straight to all that the city has to offer. We are 6 miles from Edinburgh Airport. A central location , for those who want a base to explore Scotland. The space This is a compact and cosy traditional stone built cottage, newly renovated to a high standard . This property is suited for two people, with one double bed ( UK standard size 135cm wide x190cm). lounge and modern kitchen. We do not have any additional safety features for children and so the property may be unsuitable for them. There is a small private car park outside the cottage which is in use and so please ensure you adopt safety when entering and leaving. Free wifi and a smart TV in lounge only, with many free view channels to enjoy. You are welcome to log in to Netflix or other platforms if you are a subscriber and wish to use your own log in details. We have space that can be use for those who require to work from the cottage with good Wi-Fi connection, with a bright outlook. We have a full kitchen with oven, hob, microwave and fridge. The kitchen is new and a modern design. We also have a powerful electric shower and gas central heating to ensure you are warm in the chillier months. The cottage is in the heart of the lively village with local pubs offering food and regular entertainment and social events on our doorstep. If you prefer complete quiet and tranquility our cottage is also very private, nestled away to the rear of the courtyard of the institute hall with no heavy footfall. WE DO NOT HAVE ON SITE PARKING However there is good off street parking in the village and a well lit car park only a few metres away from the cottage. We have a suitcase stand, drawers and facility to hang some clothes but no wardrobe. Guest access You have full access to the cottage and we have a bench outside if you would like to sit outside. We do not have on site parking.There is generally good parking in the village and a well lit car park very near by. Other things to note There are 3 pubs and 3 restaurants in the village and several takeaways. The neighbouring village also has a lovely pub/ restaurant. We have 2 convenience shops in the village just a few steps from the property. The cottage is very peaceful but within easy reach of all amenities. We are close to Livingston which has good shopping and approximately 50 metres from bus stops to get you straight into Edinburgh. Train station are close by, approximately 10 minutes by car. Trains to Edinburgh is a short 15 minutes or 50 minutes to Glasgow. Mid Calder is a lovely picturesque village steeped in history and considered a very good location for those wishing to enjoy a more rural stay whilst only a short commute to the Capital City. There are lovely walks and the National cycle route 75 is on our doorstep. The award winning JupiterArtland is nearby offering a contemporary sculptured garden and visiting exhibitions. Mid Calder Kirk is our 16th century church is steeped in history and is open to visitors on Sundays between 2-4pm in summer months. This is a great choice for exploring the history of Scotland, enjoying easy access to the countryside whilst being very close to Edinburgh. You can enjoy top class attractions, entertainment and off course the world famous Edinburgh International festival. The Edinburgh international climbing arena and Europe’s largest inland surfing area are a short 11 minute drive away for the more adventurous visitor.
