'Sallees' is an eco-luxe tiny home located on a 7 acre farm on the banks of the Mowamba River in the Snowy Mountains, NSW. Take a plunge in the river, or soak in the spectacular river and mountain views from your own wood-fired bath set amidst a grove of native Black Sallee trees. Located 15 mins from Jindabyne and 40 minutes from Perisher/Thredbo, Sallees is a peaceful mountain retreat and adventure-seekers' base, with hiking, fishing, biking and snowsport adventures on your doorstep. The space She may be 'tiny', but Sallees is mighty impressive. Located on our 7 acre property, 'Mowamba River Retreat', Sallees offers a peaceful sanctuary within a uniquely beautiful part of the Snowy Mountains region of NSW. With 100m river frontage on the pristine Mowamba River - recognised as the purest water in the Snowys - the property also features undulating pastures, a fenced dam and main residence (occupied during winter and holiday periods and the occasional weekend). Sallees is tucked away in a grove of native sallee trees and granite boulders, offering privacy and views out over the river. All parts of the property enjoy spectacular views of the river and towering gums along Moonbah Ridge, which forms part of Kosciuszko National Park. Having access to the park opens up opportunities for hiking, biking, bird watching and nature photography. Inside, Sallees combines functionality and sleek design to create a relaxing and cosy space with all the creature comforts. Recline in the sunken lounge and enjoy stunning 270 degree views of the mountains and river. Snuggle up in a queen-sized, loft bed with hotel-quality linens. Fully operational kitchen with electric cooktop, bar fridge, kettle, toaster, sandwich press and coffee machine. Stylish bathroom with shower, flush toilet and nature-friendly toiletries. A radiant heater will keep you cosy in the colder months, and a ceiling fan provides cooling on summer days. Stepping outside, you will have access to a spacious deck and Weber BBQ, as well as a fire pit. The standout though is the cedar and steel, woodfired bath tub. All kindling and firewood is supplied for your convenience. Upon request, we will do our best to have it fired up and ready to go on your arrival - simply make a note of this in your booking request. For a truly unforgettable experience, take a plunge in the river and afterwards retreat to the tub for a magical night of star-gazing and utter relaxation. Sitting at an altitude of 1,100m, it is not unusual for us to receive snow in the winter months. At all times of year, you can catch glimpses of remarkable birdlife (kookaburras, magpies, cockatoos, flame robins, superb fairy wrens and lyre birds) and, if you're lucky, our resident wombats. Guest access Sallees at Mowamba River Retreat is located in the Moonbah valley, approximately 15 minutes from Jindabyne along the Barry Way, and 45 minutes from Thredbo and Perisher. We are a 2 hour drive from Canberra and approximately 5.5 hours from Sydney. The final leg of the trip involves navigating Big Yard Road, which is 6.5km of unsealed road passing through a stunning landscape of cattle farms and river plains. Keep an eye out for emus, deer, cows and other critters using the road. The road is suitable for all vehicles, except in periods of heavy rain or snow when we recommend travelling by 4WD or (in case of snow) carrying snow chains. Upon arrival, Sallees can be reached by taking a short stroll from the dedicated parking area (next to the main residence) and through a grove of Black Sallee trees. For easy check in at any time, there is a key lock box onsite. We will send you instructions and the code before your arrival. Other things to note Due to the abundance of native wildlife on the property, unfortunately we are unable to accommodate your furry friends. Phone reception is patchy along Barry Way and drops out at the start of Big Yard Road (near the Church). You will be able to make calls and send emails via free Wifi at the property.
