The town of Dolores offers a variety of dining and shopping opportunities and Dolores Food Market is great for groceries. Canyon of the Ancients National Monument, Dolores river, McPhee Reservoir, San Juan National Forest, and Mesa Verde National Park are all within 20 minutes’ drive. Telluride and Durango are within an hour. Adventure awaits! The space Sunset House is a custom straw bale and timber frame house made of natural materials on 13 acres. The interior walls are earth plaster. It is solar powered, with a back up propane heater and gas oven. There is also a wood stove. The livingroom has a new Visio smart TV Guest access Guests are welcome to use the entire house, outside patios and balcony. You are also welcome to walk around the property. There is another small cottage on the property that is currently lived in by a long term renter. Please respect their privacy. Other things to note There is a smaller cottage on the property that we call Hobbit House. It is currently had a long term renter. Please respect their privacy. Also, it's important to know that Sunset House and Hobbit house are off the grid and solar panels create our electricity. We have plenty of battery storage and capacity to meet your electrical needs. But if you ever run into issues please let us know so we can address it as soon as possible. Alex and Chris are very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and are happy to recommend day trips and activities for you. Alex is a tour guide at Mesa Verde from April-October and a ski instructor at Telluride in the winter and Chris is a Massage Therapist.
