Our quintessential English country home is an ideal sanctuary for family gatherings and celebrations. The space Chelmshoe is a beautifully restored Georgian family home, set in the heart of a private farm. With seven elegant bedrooms—five super king and two king—each featuring a luxurious ensuite bathroom, it offers the perfect blend of comfort and charm. One of the super king bedrooms is located in a separate annexe, just 30 yards from the main house, making it an excellent choice for those who prefer to avoid stairs. The spacious dining room comfortably seats up to 14 guests, ideal for special gatherings. Multiple living areas, including a drawing room, sitting room, and games room, each equipped with digital TVs, provide ample space for relaxation and entertainment. The games room also boasts a 7ft games table, offering pool, table tennis, and table hockey for endless fun. Outside, the fully walled garden and patio feature seating for up to 14 guests, along with a BBQ, perfect for alfresco dining. For an added touch of luxury, a wood-fired hot tub is available as an optional extra—please ask for more details if you're interested. To make your stay even more special, we can also arrange outside catering as an optional extra, should you wish to indulge in a fully catered experience. Chelmshoe is an ideal setting for large family get-togethers and celebrations. Plus, we're dog-friendly, so your four-legged friends are welcome too! Guest access You will have access to the whole house and it's surrounding gardens. Other things to note There are many local attractions nearby to visit including Colne Valley Railway, Hedingham Castle, Gosfield Lake, Fennes Fishery, East Anglian Railway Museum, Marks Hall Estate, Colchester Zoo and Blackwater Alpacas - more details about these places are in the Visitors Guide which will be sent to you ahead of your stay with us. The house is located within close proximity to local wedding venues such as Hedingham Castle and Fennes Estate, making it an ideal place to stay for a weekend with a group attending a wedding. There are also lots of lovely pubs and restaurants nearby - details of these can also be found in the welcome book at the house. The house is dog friendly up to a maximum of 2 dogs per booking. There are many beautiful walks you can go on around the house- a map of these can be found at the house. There is a small welcome hamper at the house for guests including local produce, milk, eggs, bread and butter.
