Captains Rest

Captain’s Rest is the perfect place to get away from everyday life with your whole family. Located on the beautiful blues of Lake Huron at the heart of the Bruce Peninsula, this idyllic cottage life is only 2.5 km from Singing Sands (shorter by water), 9km to the Grotto, and 12km to downtown Tobermory (about a 15-minute drive). It is located centrally to all your needs while still providing the escape necessary to properly relax. The space These two acres of waterfront land have access to all the attractions the Bruce Peninsula has to offer. From Flowerpot Island boat tours to the variety of hiking trails and even the local shops in Tobermory, this place has it all. Whether you’re spending a day relaxing under the sun or enjoying the kilometer's of wilderness, everything is within a manageable distance. The Captains Rest lot consists of a deck overlooking the waterfront, a grassy lawn perfect for games or sunbathing and a firepit next to the water. It is western facing over the water providing a direct sightline of the phenomenal sunsets. Here on this lakefront each sunset is different from the last and yet there is no other view quite like it. There are three bedrooms and a bunkie. The master bed is king sized with its own walk in closet and private bathroom. Other bedrooms are double bed and queen bed with a shared bathroom. The bunkie is a short fifteen second walk from the front door and has its very own, fireplace, tv, bunkbed, and additional single bed. The open concept kitchen is large and spacious with a direct view over the water. It holds all the basic amenities such as a gas stove, oven, microwave, and even includes a top-of-the-line dishwasher. Kitchen is fully equipped including but not limited to blenders, food processors, coffee makers, kettle, and toasters. The living room is the perfect place for a family game night or a movie on a rainy day. With two reclining chairs and a large couch for four, the living room can hold the entire family. It also has a large flatscreen tv already set up with chrome cast. The dining room is made up of beautiful wood paneled walls with floor to ceiling windows that overlook the water. The table holds eight people with additional room for chairs to be pulled over. The perfect place for a fancy dinner or even just somewhere to sit and deal out cards with a spectacular view. Both bathrooms in the cottage are newly renovated with one walk in shower and one shower-tub combo. There are also brand-new washer-dryer units installed for your use. On the deck overlooking the water there is a hot tub (exclusive for those who book it), a new weber barbeque, and a fire table (available for all use). The deck has a patio table, lawn chairs, Muskoka chairs, and cushioned seats all facing out over the lake. Other things to note Captains Rest is fully equipped with three kayaks, four bikes, a paddle board, and lawn games. All of these can be found on the property ready to be used. The waterfront is extremely rocky and can be slippery, it is recommended that you bring water shoes to optimize safety. In the cottage there can be found a number of board games, card games, puzzles, and more. There is a garbage pick up system from the bins at the end of the road each week (Monday) but any garbage that does not fit in should be disposed of at the local dump before you leave. There are no pets allowed in Captains Rest – it is a pet free zone.
