Stunning views, great walking
Description
Spectacular walking from the doorstep, an upland beautifully refurbished Weardale barn. Surrounded by a working sheep farm, at the top of the moor, wild, rural and great for getting away from it all. Black grouse and hares on the moor, long walks, no people and back to a log fire - the cottage is very warm and cosy, recently completely refitted, so even if the weather is hostile you can have a great end to your day. Oh, and spectacular views across the moors! The space Large open plan kitchen diner, with a vaulted ceiling. Smaller snug with log burner (please bring your own logs), TV with Sky. Two bedrooms, both with double beds and each has its own en-suite bathroom with large showers. Please note - the water comes from a Spring at the top of the hill, this is purified and treated with ultra violet light. It is perfectly safe to drink, wash and use in anyway! However, especially after it rains, it may be brown in colour and you may prefer to bring bottled water to drink, if this is worrying. Guest access The entire cottage is yours. There is an annexe next to the property, this sleeps two people in twin beds, has its own bathroom, kitchenette and living room with spectacular views! You can book this together with the main cottage by clicking on our other listing. It will not be let out separately, so there will be no one else present during your stay. Other things to note This cottage is in the middle of a working farm, please do respect the country code, close all gates that are closed and leave those open, open. No dogs of any sort are allowed, even on leads. Please make sure you take your litter back to the cottage and help to keep this AONB clean, thank you. The cottage is extremely remote, accessed via a 1/3rd mile farm track. This track is fine for normal cars, but not low slung sports cars! There is parking for up to two cars at the property, please do not block the track. As it is a remote location, please do make sure you bring all essential items with you, the nearest smaller Coop is in St John's Chapel (10mins drive) and the nearest pharmacy is in Stanhope (20mins drive), which also has a larger Coop. The water is from a spring at the top of the moor, it is filtered and purified, however it can be brown in colour, especially after rains - whilst it is complete safe to drink (and wash with!), you may prefer to bring bottled water.
