A troglodyte adventure!

Description

A troglodyte experience in the city of roses. This 20 m2 troglodyte dwelling, part of a set of cavities dating back several centuries, was fitted out in 2024 to accommodate travelers wishing to enjoy an unusual and exotic experience. As soon as you arrive, you will be immersed in the atmosphere of the troglodytes, thanks to a tunnel that will take you to the quarry where your accommodation is located. Will you dare to try the adventure? The space The place is for two people. I recommend it for short stays of 1 to 3 nights but of course you are welcome for a long stay. It has: – A large 160 x 200 bed, with a memory foam mattress, medium-firm. As well as a heated mattress topper to warm the sheets before sleeping. – A bathroom area with bathtub (separate toilet) – A kitchen area with double induction stove, table fridge, kettle, as well as everything you need to prepare your meals. – Sheets and towels are provided. – You can enjoy part of the garden, in front of your troglo. I live in the house that overlooks the troglodyte quarry and your entrance through the tunnel is completely independent, so you won't have to cross me. – Parking space at the entrance to the tunnel. – For a total change of scenery: no Wi-Fi, no network in the troglo. – Unfortunately the accommodation is not accessible for people with reduced mobility. Access to the tunnel is via 4 steps down. – Pets are allowed (I have two cats). Fenced property. Remember that you will live in the equivalent of a cave, that is to say that the temperature varies from 11 to 20 degrees and that there is some ambient humidity but for the heat wave, nothing better! Heating is nevertheless provided for spring and autumn adventurers ;) You can visit all the troglodytic cavities of the garden, used from the Middle Ages to the end of the 20th century, to admire the traces of the past of the place: old press and its tank, screw press, fireplace, feeder, etc., all dug into the falun (rock of the corner)! Other things to note 2 min drive to the accommodation, you can visit the famous Bioparc de Doué la Fontaine (zoo), still in a troglodyte setting; plan the day! You can also admire the Foullon rose garden, a 5-minute walk from the accommodation (free park) and its Museum of Old Trades. As well as a rose garden in the form of an English park, "The Rose Paths", a 5-minute drive away. If, however, you fall in love with a particular rosebush, the many local rosarians will be able to advise you on your purchase. The accommodation is a 5-minute drive from downtown Doué-la-Fontaine. Many troglodyte sites can be visited nearby: the Mystery of the Faluns, The Troglodytes of the Sandpit, Troglodytes and Sarcophagi... 20 minutes from Saumur, 35 minutes from Angers, 1 hour 10 minutes from Tours, as well as 10 minutes from the "Coteaux du Layon" appellation area, famous for its sweet wines. Self check-in with lockbox.
