One bedroom is located on the main floor with 3 bedrooms located on the TOP floor. Sleeps 8 (plus 1 as there’s a cot on site) :two queen, one double , 2 single beds. (The stairs to the 3 rooms on the 2nd floor are quite steep. Please ensure you check out the associated photos!)Walk to the library. Fish off the wharf. Enjoy the view. Read a book. Relax. This is a very rustic traditional Acadian home, with many items , paintings and trinkets that once belonged to my grand mother. Other then the leather sofas and internet, there is nothing modern about our cottage. The floors are a combination of original tiles and linoleum. The linoleum is very very old as well as the tiles. They are original. Please book with the knowledge base that the floors are not new. The bathroom is pink! The towels are great but don’t match. The pipes from inside the walls have been brought outside the wall as they would freeze in the winter. However, as others have, you’ll no doubt find lots of hidden charm, memories, and things that possibly remind you of your own grand parents! And the view is priceless. We hope you enjoy the home as much as we do! If you arrive with a pet, please pick up their poop! PS: please look carefully at the photos and description. This home is very old and not perfect. But it’s extremely comfortable and the combination of hot tub and view as well as the sunrise are amazing. Guest access Access the wharf, a stone’s throw. Renting our cottage includes the following : 6 person hot tub (please be aware of our hot tub rules) 3 adult kayaks 1 adult fishing kayak One double kayak (shared with guests at trailer) Life jackets (guests must wear when on the water. We have small and adult medium. Please bring your own if possible) The back deck , equipped with a BBQ, table/seating, overlooks the harbour. The bbq is dismantled and should be cleaned and put in same position upon departure. Ask us about our upcoming experience : Trawler boat excursion! Tour the coastline, fish some mackerel, visit a secluded beach. Other things to note Disclosure : Please note that this is a 200 year old home. This is my grandmother‘s house and it is left in the exact same condition (minus a few improvements & upgraded furniture) as she left it when she died in 1995. It’s a work in progress. The linoleum & tile floors and walls aren’t perfect. Before you book, please look closely at all the photos, the details, the vintage style, the various defects and particularities that have become part of this homes charm. We’ve had a handful of guests over the years tell us it needs maintenance. It’s a 200 year old home. It’s not perfect and that’s part of its charm. 😬 Pets: pets are welcome. Please note there is an additional 25$ pet fee. Our pricing makes it affordable for 2 or for 9. Please note that there is a fee for additional guests. Any requests for additional guests after booking is 35$/guest plus applicable tax (max 9, unless you have permission to haul an additional RV or use ours at the bottom of the property). The stairs leading up to the other 4 beds are steep. We suggest anyone with mobility issues stay on the main floor (see photo of the stairs) The place has superb wifi and a 55 inch 4K smart tv for those not so nice days, where a blanket, Netflix and a beverage of choice warms the heart and soul. Well Water : the water is high in iron & magnesium. We suggest you bring your own water if you have any concerns. Fishing: you can fish mackerel with the kayaks, or even off the wharf! We no longer provide fishing gear as we were having a hard time with hooks and functional rods. Bring your own rod. You can find hooks at the minimart called Jeannie’s in Arichat. The harbour used to be a busy fishing area. You may come across some glass from bottles and dishes from long ago. Also, the rocks and shells can be very sharp, especially at low tide. If you are swimming at low tide please wear the proper footwear. And it’s best to allow dogs to swim at high tide as the rocks aren’t so jagged. Please do not allow your children to toss the barrier rocks off the wharf. There is a park model at the bottom of the property. We do sometimes offer both the house and park model for rent between April and October. Lots of old glass can be found off the wharf. The rocks at low tide, especially, can be sharp. Watch your toes and or dog pads! From November to December, we offer a vintage Christmas experience. Come spend Christmas in a 200 year old home decorated like the 70s! We are seasonal and do not run January-February and sometimes March. When we open during the rainy season in April, you MAY come across a potatoe bug (harmless and slow moving) which is typical for all these old homes on the island this time of year. They usually clear out by May. Registration Details RYA-2023-24-06071551164009680-80
