THE CABIN AND THE PLACE Unique and peaceful place at Ringkollen in Nordmarka, a large little wilderness (1400km2) northwest of Oslo. The cabin has a fantastic view to the west over the cultural landscape of Ringerike and to Steinsfjorden and Tyrifjorden and blue mountains in the distance. Location one hour drive from Oslo Airport Gardermoen or to Oslo city with all its cultural offerings. The nearby, charming little town of Hønefoss is only 9 km away. The space BRIEF HISTORY The family bought a small cabin on Ringkollen in 1985. Knut, who is a civil architect, was immediately engaged to look at possible extensions. It ended up with a newly built cabin next to the old cabin, which was pushed backwards. It is now used as an outbuilding, but we have a plan to upgrade it to a small annex. Knut designed the cabin and built large parts of it himself after the carpenters set up the raw building. The construction period was 1987-90. Over the years, the initially simple standard has been improved. The bathroom was decorated in 2016 and the kitchen in 2018. The forest cabin, of which there are several in Nordmarka, is an inspiration for the cabin's shape and internal organization. A living room that has benches/beds on the long sides and a fireplace in the middle. The cowsheds had a log construction (visible horizontal logs). Our cabin has insulated walls with horizontal panel on the outside. In addition to the historical reference, the horizontal expression gives the cabin an intimacy while giving the feeling that the cabin extends towards the blue mountains on the horizon. We have given the cabin the name Blaanen because of the great view of large mountain areas in the distance. We even get an association with the painter Th. Kittelsen's painting SORIA MORIA DESCRIPTION OF THE CABIN The living room: Living room with fireplace and kitchen. 26.7 m2, open solution. Bright and airy with high ceilings. Panoramic views of Ringerike, Steinsfjorden and Randsfjorden in the west, Gaustadtoppen and Norefjell in the distance. Dining area for 5 people. 2 beds with mattress size 85 x 200, a coffee table by one bed. Exit to the porch. Kitchen: Induction cooktop with 2 cooking zones, oven, fan, fridge with a small freezer, coffee maker (filter coffee), milk frother, kettle, waffle iron. Dishwashing foam, hot and cold water. Drawers and cabinets. Section for source sorting. The kitchen is fully equipped. Bedroom 1: 5.5 m2. 2 beds on top of each other (bunk bed with bed rails). Mattress size 90x200 cm. Dresser for storing shoes and other items. Clothes hooks on the wall. Storage boxes under the bed. Loft. (Used by the host for storage) Bedroom 2: 5.3 m2. 1 bed. Mattress size 110x200 cm. Open wardrobe space. Storage boxes under bed and under wardrobe space. Entrance area: Retracted entrance on the outside, 3.3 m2. Space for, among other things, firewood and sports equipment. Key box on the post. 2-part entrance door leads to the entrance room, 5.0 m2. Clothes hooks, mirrors, cabinets ("Ugleskapet"), fuse boxes. 2 floor boards for cool storage under the floor. Bathroom: 3.3 m2. Cinderella combustion toilet. Shower. Wash with mirror. Dressing table. Shelves and cabinets. Water tank. Water heater and pump. Veranda: Covered veranda. 5.7 m2. Other: Old hut next to the cabin (future renovation object) is currently used as a storage space for the hosts. Old outhouse is preserved as a historical gem. Guest access Guests can use the entire place except for the shed and outhouse. The plot is about 3.5 acres of natural land Other things to note The responsible tenant must be over the age of 30. Regarding access: There is a toll to Youpark for driving on Ringkollveien, as of 02/01/24 NOK 45 per passage. The fee must be paid within 48 hours of passing. Approximately 20 m from the toll gate in Ringkollveien, turn left onto Røstjernveien. Røstjernveien is a private road and it is usually closed with a barrier. The key to the toll gate must be retrieved from the key box in the cabin. It is about 300 meters to walk up the road and 80 meters to the right on a path to the cabin. Drive up Røstjernveien to the top of the hill, parking on the right. The parking lot is cleared in winter. We have two spaces behind each other on the left side of the parking lot The uphill road in Røstjernveien can sometimes be a bit demanding in winter if you do not have 4-wheel drive. Alternative parking (free) can then be at Jaklefoss which is located about 300 m further in from the gate in Ringkollveien. Cleaning is done by guests before checkout. Leave the cabin in the same condition as at check-in. If necessary, contact the host to order a final cleaning. Waste disposal. There are garbage containers at Jaklefoss. These are for the cabins in the area. Regarding dogs: It is mandatory to keep dogs on a leash in Nordmarka during the period from 04.01 to 08.20. This is to protect the wildlife/fauna in the area during particularly vulnerable periods. The order may be extended in special circumstances. Dogs are not allowed in the beds and must not be left alone in the cabin. There is a dog leash in the small yard just outside the cabin.
