Lavender Cottage, Oakworth - Cosy with Character

Lavender Cottage, a Grade II listed former weavers dwelling, is situated in the pretty village of Oakworth at the heart of the picturesque Worth Valley. It makes the perfect base for exploring the local area with pleasant country walks, a local supermarket nearby, country pubs, and places of interest. These include the heritage steam Worth Valley Railway, Haworth with it's quaint cobelled Main Street and Bronte heritage, plus two UNESCO World Heritage sites; Studley Royal, and Saltaire village. The space Lavender Cottage, a cosy home from home, has been renovated to a high standard, whilst retaining many original character features, such as the traditional exposed wooden beams, mullion windows, and original bedroom fireplace. The cottage dates back to around 1830. Main entry is through the front door street entrance. Lounge In the lounge is a dining table and chairs, a fireplace with gas fire, and two settees, perfect for relaxing on an evening after a days exploring, with an indulgent hot chocolate. There is a 32 inch HD television with FreeSat box, access to Netflix, and iplayers, along with books and DVDs for your enjoyment. These include the complete works of the Bronte sisters, The Railway Children, and film/TV adaptations. In the cupboard below the bookcase are a selection of board games and jigsaws, including the Yorkshire edition of Monopoly. The bookcase houses guide files about the cottage, local area and places of interest further afield, including a wide selection of tourist information leaflets. Kitchen Through the lounge is the modern fully integrated and equipped stone floored kitchen, for all your culinary needs, with a view of the cottage garden. Look out for the Tassimo coffee machine and pods. A complimentary welcome tray is provided, including some locally sourced items for you to enjoy. Tea, coffee and sugar are provided, along with cooking basics. Garden The garden is at the rear of the cottage, and has a patio with table and chairs, a perfect spot for relaxing after a days exploring, with a cup of tea or glass of wine, and perhaps a slice of cake. A path leads down to a bench by a stone wall at the end of the garden. This is next to an outhouse which is a useful storage space for bikes, by a small pond. From the end of the garden there is an access gate across the neighbouring garden to the left. Crossing their garden leads to another gate, from which a path leads to a nearby street. Bedrooms The main bedroom has a standard double bed, and through the mullion windows, there is a good view of the street. The original fireplace, although no longer in use provides an added character feature. The second bedroom has a single bed, and a rather interesting dividing wall which forms an alcove. From the windows there is a lovely view across the garden to a nearby field in the direction of Haworth. Both bedrooms are bright and airy. Bathroom The bathroom consists of a full sized bath with overhead shower, wash basin, toilet and heated towel rail. Towels and face cloths are provided, with complimentary toiletries, and of course toilet rolls. The cottage is centrally heated, controlled by the thermostat next to the single bedroom. A warm Yorkshire welcome awaits you at Lavender Cottage. Guest access Guests are able to access the entire cottage, with the exception of the cellar. Other things to note For guests booking a stay of seven nights or more, a 10% discount will be applied to the nightly price. No smoking indoors. An ashtray is provided in the cupboard below the glasses for outside use only. No pets, with the exception of assistance dogs. Free wifi is available throughout the cottage. There are many nearby roads available for free on street parking.
