Guest access Guests are conveniently provided key and fob access to the property. Instructions will be provided prior to check in Other things to note Our goal is to ensure our guests have the best possible experience during their stay. Here are a few friendly notes to keep in mind: 1. Villa Layout & On-Site Care Villa Zapotal features two thoughtfully designed rental suites, each with exclusive access to its own private floor and amenities. You may see or hear other guests occasionally. During the dry season, our caretakers may occasionally be onsite to tend to the gardens, typically while guests are out enjoying the area. Housekeeping staff may also be present during guest changeovers, and we take great care to ensure any activity is as discreet and unobtrusive as possible. If you’d prefer to have the entire property to yourself, please check our full house listing. 2. Power Outages From time to time, there may be power outages in our area. While they are not frequent, they are a part of life in Costa Rica. We appreciate your understanding and patience should this occur during your stay. 3. Local Wildlife As one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, Costa Rica is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including insects and lizards. Encountering them is part of the unique and beautiful experience of being here. While we do our best to keep the villa pest-free, you may still see some of our little neighbours from time to time. We also have a couple of resident iguanas we’ve named Big Freddy and Little Freddy—you’ll often find them sunbathing on the rocks, gazing out at the ocean, or snacking on my bougainvilleas! You may also spot howler monkeys, green parrots, hummingbirds, magpie jays, and occasionally even white-faced capuchin monkeys. 4. Accessing the Property Villa Zapotal is located on an unpaved mountain road that is regularly maintained and includes several concrete sections. Guests should have a vehicle to get around. An SUV is recommended for added ease, though neither an SUV nor 4x4 is required. 5. Growth in the Area Guanacaste is a growing region, which means you may occasionally see or hear construction activity or vehicles nearby. Pacific Heights is typically a very quiet area, and any disruptions are usually minimal. 6. Weather & Seasons Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast has two distinct seasons: dry season (December–April) and green season (May–November). During the dry season, expect plenty of sunshine, warm temperatures, and very little rain—perfect for beach days and outdoor adventures. The green season brings lush landscapes, fewer crowds, and occasional afternoon or evening showers, offering a more tranquil experience. No matter when you visit, Playa Potrero’s beauty shines year-round. We hope you enjoy the natural beauty and charm of Costa Rica as much as we do. Don’t forget your sunscreen! Thank you for your understanding, and have a wonderful stay 🇨🇷
