Village house in Charente with pool

L’Ancienne Gendarmerie is a beautiful restored police station in the heart of Pressac village. On the square opposite the church, with countryside views across the pretty river Clain and its medieval bridge, the house combines a sense of history with modern convenience and plenty of space. Ideal for families or groups of friends with a games room and a pool, there is plenty to do, and it is also a great base to explore the Vienne and Charente. Please note there is a minimum 3 night stay. The space The flexible sleeping space is perfect for groups of 8-12 people and comprises 4 double bedrooms each with an en-suite, plus a large dormitory-style room that can sleep several more. In adition, if needed, and by agreement with the owners, there are 2 further rooms linked to bedrooms which are suitable for small children. Downstairs, you will enjoy a big fully equipped country kitchen, large living room with smart TV and bluetooth speaker, a well equipped indoor games room (pool, darts, console games, table football and even a vintage pinball machine!). There is a huge covered veranda opening onto the large rear garden, ideal for breakfast or quiet time. There is plenty of interior space for large families or groups of friends to socialise. Outside, there is a spacious, level garden with a swimming pool (7m x 3.5m), sunbathing area, shady reading spots and even your own petanque court to while away the long summer evenings. In addition, you have an outdoor bar area with an outdoor table seating 12 for leisurely alfresco lunches or simply lounging around. There is also a raised terrace (access via narrow steps outside or the master beroom) with lovely views overlooking the river which is perfect for breakfast or a relaxing aperitif in the evening sun. Guest access The whole house is at your disposal. The entrance is private and the rear garden is private too. Other things to note Please note that we have a shallow pond (40cm deep) in the garden, and although the garden is fully fenced/walled, it is adjacent to the river and village pond. The swimming pool is 90-110cm deep.
