Set above an ancient rhododendron canopy, the treehouse provides a luxurious, eco-friendly treetop habitat in close proximity to downtown Asheville. The space Whimsical and modern, the earthy warmth of “the Cardinal” treehouse inhabits the Appalachian environment as a unique and luxurious escape. With heat and AC, the treehouse and outhouse are connected by exterior bridges, creating minimal environmental impact on the ancient landscape. The open-plan living space includes a kitchen pod with essentials - coffee pot, tea kettle, microwave and sink - a dining booth placed to capture mountain views, a double bed layered with Pendleton blankets, a vintage electric cone fireplace, and sleek wood paneling creating a modern but cozy interior. The oversized windows double as a reading nooks surrounded by curated local novels and area guides to help plan excursions. Special amenities for guests include a mini fridge with water filter, fresh coffee, tea and s’mores packets. The host also provides a miniature “merch store” where guests can purchase mugs, hats, koozies and other souvenirs. All proceeds are donated to area nonprofits working to end homelessness. The outdoor living space is positioned perfectly to enjoy sunsets from the large round hot tub. The patio includes a swinging egg-chair, Adirondack chairs, picnic table and a red solo stove for s’mores roasts. The property includes a custom outhouse with portajohn emptied twice per week, and 2 camp showers for use in an outdoor shower with heated water from the sun or electric tea kettle. Dogs are welcome! This cozy cabin is just 1 mile to the Warren Wilson trails and 4 miles from the hiking trails and waterfalls of Pisgah National Forest, perfect for peaceful forest bathing. Stunning long range views are 2.5 miles away along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The treehouse is 8 miles to Biltmore Estate & Winery and vibrant downtown Asheville. The road is steep but paved in the steepest section and manageable in two-wheel-drive cars. There is room to park 2 compact cars or one larger vehicle. Four-wheel-drive is only required during winter weather events. No campers or vehicles with trailers. Other things to note No oversized vehicles or vehicles with trailers. Modcabins is dog-friendly! Dogs over age 18 months welcome. Standard rental agreement sent after booking for a quick e-sign. Property is not suitable for children under age 10 due to heights of walkways and treehouse. The Cardinal is an off-grid tiny house with separate porta potty-style bathhouse emptied and refilled weekly. The treehouse has power and cold water access. The only shower is an outdoor shower - camping shower bags on site. Heat water in sun or from an electric kettle. The Cardinal is remote and semi-private with one other cabin- our A-Frame Airbnb- within view downhill from the treehouse.
