Description

Travel back in time as you enter our enchanted cabin. A shop we have painstakingly converted to a cabin. You will find our 1 room cabin with all the charm of the late 1800s with a few added modern touches. The cabin is equipped with 2 full size iron beds, 2 large rocking chairs, a handmade farmhouse table, and wood burning stove. There is a 1/2 bath inside the cabin & an out door shower available all year round. This shower is equipped with a propane tankless water heater with hot water The space Welcome to Walkerhaven Homestead, a 40 acre farm, nestled in the Foothills of North Carolina, in the heart of the Yadkin Valley wine country. You will always find our gentle giants, our beloved Belgian draft horses here. We use our draft horses to plow & cultivate our garden, mow our hay & give wagon rides at the Alpha & Omega Corn Maze in the Fall. You may also find chickens, cows, or pigs during the year. Our farm is also home to our 4 dogs & 1 trusty barn cat. We ask guests to please not wander around the farm. As recent guests were walking through our neighbors’ back yards and pasture gates were not secured. We are in the perfect location for a fun filled stay. There are numerous wineries in a 10 mile radius! While here, visit our Amish community and be sure to stop at Shiloh General Store & Wholesome Country Creamery minutes away. We are a 20 mile drive to the campus of Wilkes Community College where Merle Fest is held every year in April. The North Wilkesboro Speedway is a 15 mile drive if you are a NASCAR enthusiast. Is hiking or kayaking for you? Check out Stone Mountain State Park in Roaring Gap NC or New River Outfitters in Crumpler, NC. Relax on the front porch with a cup of coffee, sit around the fire pit watching the stars, or sit by the wood stove with a good book. We have some amazing sunsets! If you plan on using the wood stove or fire pit to cook, please bring cast iron pans. We no longer provide these. There is charcoal, lighter fluid, and a spatula provided for the grill. We furnish paper plates, cups, plastic flatware, cups, & styrofoam cups for Keurig. Salt & pepper are provided. We have Dawn dish soap in the cabin if you need to wash your dishes. There are several amazing restaurants nearby if you’d like to take the night off from cooking. If you have allergies- you may want to reconsider staying on a farm with lots of animals. Guest access Guests have access to the entire cabin Other things to note Please note: this is a cabin. There may be critters who may visit. Albeit flies, spiders, opossums, raccoons or horses. We like our quiet, rural life, but sometimes dogs bark, roosters crow, coyotes howl, horses run and a donkey may bray. During the summer- the cabin is equipped with two fans: a tall oscillating fan and a tower type fan. During the winter- the cabin is heated by a wood stove The cabin is located right next to our barn. Sitting between our home and our barn.
