Why Guests Choose Us We pride ourselves on being responsive, thoughtful hosts who care about the details. Many of our guests leave us 5-star reviews for cleanliness, comfort, location, and the unforgettable horses nearby—and we’d love to host you too! The sliding door private entrance brings you into the large open living room with kitchen, dining and working space, wood burning stove, flat screen TV, and a couch that folds out into a queen bed. The bathroom with a pocket door is off the main living space. The ladder stairs take you up to the sleeping loft, also with a queen size bed. Through the hallway you will find a bedroom with sitting room and sliding door that opens onto a deck with table and chairs. The perfect place to share your morning coffee with your horse neighbors. The vacation kitchen offers a combo microwave/convection oven, induction hotplate, hot water kettle, and coffee maker. With the grill outside, this small kitchen is ready for simple cooking and easy clean up. The vaulted ceiling gives a spacious feel to this charming space and offers everything you need for a romantic getaway, personal retreat, or family adventure. We live on the property and are available for anything that comes up during your stay. We equally understand our guests' needs for privacy and have designed the space to reflect that. Your neighbors are three horses, and there are two friendly resident dogs. Ask about grocery stocking prior to and catering options during your stay. We also offer access to horseback trail rides, river kayaking, and transportation to and from Mount Bachelor for skiing, mountain biking, or hiking. We recommend a local shop in Sunriver for bike and ski rentals. Contact us after you make your reservation for more information on dining and recreation options. The property itself is adjacent to La Pine State Park, The Deschutes River, and the Deschutes National Forest. This combination creates a vast natural playground for every outdoor adventure you can think of. We look forward to welcoming you to our piece of Central Oregon heaven, and making your stay memorable no matter what your plans or interests may be. Guest access Guests are welcome to access their private fenced yards, the common outdoor areas, and the fire pit in the back yard. You are also welcome to visit with the horses over the fence but please don’t go into their space without one of us. Other things to note Thank you for considering time at the Wild River Guesthouse! Please be aware of the following to make sure we are all on the same page: The guest house is in a rural area close to La Pine State Park and the Deschutes River. Downtown Bend is a 30 minute drive, Sunriver is 20 minutes and La Pine Center is 15 minutes. Please make sure that this location works for your lodging needs. The Wild River Guesthouse is a dog and horse friendly property. This means that there are 2 resident dogs and 3 resident horses. Please consider any allergies upon booking. The dogs will also sometimes be around when you are coming and going. They will bark initially as dogs do, but their tails will be wagging and they will be hoping you will throw a pinecone for them. They are medium size 30-40 pounds. Please consider any canine related concerns you may have when reserving the guest house. Also please note that we are unable to accommodate guest pets. You will hear and see us moving around the property as we work with the horses, play with the dogs and work in the gardens. If you are looking for seclusion this probably isn’t the best choice. The guest house vacation kitchen is fully functional with a combo microwave/oven, induction hotplate, rice cooker/vegetable steamer, grill with griddle attachment and all associated cooking equipment. It does not feature a traditional stovetop, oven, or dishwasher. Please look at the listing photos closely. They accurately show the ladder like stairs to the sleeping loft. Which is just as it says “a sleeping loft”. Entrance to the loft is 4’ high. If you are over 6’ you may find the sleeping loft and shower a bit snug. There will be times when we need to access the horse house by truck or tractor. This access is through the guest yard. We will let you know if this will happen during your stay. Most of all we look forward to hosting your Central Oregon adventure. We designed and built our guesthouse out of a former storage space on the property. We take care of it and take great pride in the cleanliness and maintenance of the space. It is our goal to offer a quality economical stay keeping in mind the things we appreciate when we travel. We are here if you need help or have questions but understand and respect our guests' need for privacy.
