Forest Hall is a stunning Georgian period country home, perched on a hill overlooking the Western Tiers. The views over the gardens and through to the blue Western Tiers are of breathtaking beauty. Built in c1845 by William Bonnily, Forest Hall offers an extraordinary opportunity to experience quintessential country living. Forest Hall is steeped in history coupled with contemporary renovations. There are over 8 acres of established gardens to enjoy. The space Forest Hall is the quintessential country home. The approach to the home through the entrance gate leads you to a winding drive flanked by oaks and linden trees. The emerging stunning two storey residence was convict built and features blue stone imported from England, sandstone, along with local rubble stone. The home has been recently extensively renovated, with designer interiors and furnishings. There is a wide and welcoming entrance hall that leads you to a series of beautifully proportioned rooms to enjoy, including a library, separate reading room bathed in sunlight, a lounge room and formal dining room. The kitchen is full of character with stone walls, an original bread oven (for looks only, not operational), a fully functional cast-iron electric Aga, gas hot plates and open plan island bench with stone benchtops. This large area also has another dining area. There is a large walk in pantry off the kitchen area which includes a fridge, separate BOSCH oven and microwave, and large corner pantry with basic supplies including fresh bread, jam, tea, coffee. The laundry/ mudroom (with washing machine, dryer, iron and drying rack) is adjacent to the back door. A clothes line is located behind the Blacksmiths cottage along with a well stocked wood pile. The spiral staircase leads you to three spacious bedrooms all with magnificent views. Each room has a comfortable queen size bed with quality Belgian linen sheets and plush towels. There are two bathrooms both with a shower and bath. The home is nestled in 26 acres of land, with 9 acres of established woodland gardens for guests to enjoy. There are meandering paths and various garden rooms to explore. The garden hosts heritage trees and plantings from the 1840s, including the oak forest to the left of the driveway. Notably, the gardens were further enhanced and designed by expert gardener and author – Susan Irvine during the 1990’s. The grounds have over 300 varieties of roses, magnolia’s, expansive grass lawns, hawthorn hedging, daffodil paddocks, a crab apple walk, rhododendrons, and secret gardens. There are a number of original outbuildings including historic stables, barn, and blacksmiths hut. The paddocks are fully fenced. The property is serviced by tank water, septic tanks, mains power and heating (including two freestanding wood fireplaces and electric panel heaters in the bedrooms). Guest access Forest Hall is located in Elizabeth Town, a 30 minute drive away from Devonport ferry terminal (for the Spirit of Tasmania) or a 40 minute drive from Launceston airport. Access to Forest Hall is relatively flat for the various entrances to the ground floor. The second floor is accessed via the curved staircase. Forest Hall is situated within a local community, less than 10 minutes drive from Deloraine. Deloraine is a creative arts hub, with bakeries, supermarkets and all the offerings of a small country town. Forest Hall is located in the Meander Valley with food, wine and natural beauty in abundance. The Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm and Van Diemens Land Creamery, neighbours Forest Hall (a 2 minute drive left at the main gate), and offers full lunch menu, take aways, chocolate coated raspberries and coffee. Other things to note Water for Forest Hall is supplied through a number of rainwater tanks located throughout the property. Guests are asked to be mindful and conservative with their water use. We do not have a TV, as our space is designed for guests to unwind and rest. Unlimited access to wifi is available, should you need it, with access codes provided on check-in. As Forest Hall is built with thick internal masonry walls, the wifi access is not available in all areas of the house. The modem is located in the library and access in other rooms can vary. We endeavour to listen to our guests and constantly improve our offerings to make our home the best of stays for you. We value your feedback. Damages: All damages and theft will be charged at replacement value. Guests are responsible for treating the property and furnishings with care, and leaving the property in a reasonably clean manner.
