Description
You’ll love the stylish decor of this charming place to stay. You step back in history to a bygone era when railroads were kings, and life was simpler. This house is a turn-of-the-century, very unique Victorian mansion. Many of the original features remain — oak and chestnut trim, original floors, high ceilings —along with modern features such as A/Cs, Wi-Fi, new bathrooms, and refrigerators. Our goal is to help travelers relax and feel at home. The space The River House Lodge is a unique "Stick Victorian," built by the owner of the local bank for his sons. It is a 15-room, three-story home with exterior features unusual for the period in Appalachia. The top half features an Edwardian style, with four eaves. The porch is of a slightly later 1920s style, with solid porch railing that offsets the house. Please come and enjoy this magnificent old railroad town's historic structure. Guest access Guests are welcome to use the downstairs living room, dining room, and TV lounge area. Coffee is available anytime. We have a refrigerator for guest use. Breakfast is self-serve, so you can have it whenever you like. We live in part of the building, so if you need help, we are always here for you.
