Description

Step away from the cell phone, computer and hustle of life and relax in the beauty and peace of the Maine woods and waters. The fishing is some of the best in the state! Bring your boat or kayak to wander the lake which adjoins other lakes and the Grand Falls Flowage. Grand Lake Stream for fly fishing is 12 miles away. Baxter State Park, 2 1/2 hours away. Please read ALL info about this listing BEFORE you book, esp. My Property & Guest Access & Other details to note. The space This cabin is my second home and I ask you to treasure it with respect and care as I do. Absolutely NO smoking/vaping allowed in the cabin at all and NO smoking anywhere on this property. You must bring your own sheets, pillowcases and bath towels. The cabin has all amenities on the second floor. Garage/laundry is on the first floor. I do have pets, but I ask you to leave yours at home. (Too many issues in the past prompted this policy and I make NO exceptions.) There is an outdoor fireplace or a gas grill for cookouts. In town, 1 mile away, is a very nice grocery store and an Ace hardware should you need a license to fish. Also most of the stores uptown carry bundles of firewood in case supply is low. Gas for the grill you can be refilled in town if needed. Please clean the grill after your use for the next guest. There are 7 acres with this house but if you're not familiar with the woods stay within sight of the cabin. As you come down the driveway and face the lake my land runs to the right of the cabin. The property line is very close to the house on the left and that neighbor likes his privacy. All of my neighbors like their peace and quiet so do not run any 4 wheelers or motorcycles up and down the driveway. You are apt to hear the loons, eagles and owls frequently, especially in the early morning or evening hours. Also the Milky Way and shooting stars are easily seen in the clear night air. Guest access Washer and dryer are available for your laundry while you are here. Please do NOT bring all of your household laundry to wash. The living quarters are all upstairs, but plans for renovation are scheduled for Summer 2025. Bring all of your own food and beverages, sheets, and towels, and take ALL of your leftovers with you. You may notice some food supplies and beverages here in the fridge, freezer or in cabinets. They belong to my family as we are here quite often year around. As most of the electricity in the house is supported by solar we do not have a microwave which takes a lot of electricity. Because of the solar I ask you to turn off lights and fans as if not in use. (I would rather not pay for electricity.) There is a light switch at the top of the stairs on the support beam for the downstairs light. There is a drip coffee maker and toaster oven in the kitchen. You are stepping back in time a bit and it is rustic here, but that’s the way we like it. You also may notice security cameras outside and in certain places in the cabin. Theft of some of my property and those folks that violate the cabin rules have forced this. There are no cameras in any private areas. Please leave the blankets and quilts on the beds and not on the floor and wash up and put away all your dishes before you depart. If you move anything inside or outside please place it back before you leave. Clean up anything spilled and if something breaks please let me know. Leaving the cabin and yard as neat and clean as you found it keeps our costs down all around. I appreciate your help with this. On your departure day please leave promptly by 11 AM. This allows time for my housekeeper to do deep cleaning before the next guest arrives. IF you are around, trash goes out to the end of the driveway early on Tuesdays. My housekeeper will return the barrels back to the cabin. My dock is usually in the water from late May until late September so you are welcome to bring your boats or kayaks. If you like to fish bring your tackle, we have a large variety of fish in this lake and nearby waters. FLY FISHING GUIDE OPTIONS: If you are interested in a guided fly fishing experience, I can connect you with trusted local guides who offer both full outings and fly fishing lessons-perfect for all skill levels. PHOTOGRAPHY OPTION: Looking to capture you adventure or fishing trip? I can recommend a talented local photographer who specializes in creating lasting memories in the beautiful Maine outdoors! There is no hunting/trapping allowed anywhere on my property. I do have internet available. The password for the Internet is listed on the side of the refrigerator. Other things to note Only folks over 21 making reservations please, and no adult may make a reservation for someone under 21. The guest staying has to make their own reservations. Please, NO loud parties. There are security cameras inside and outside though not in any private areas. Theft and destruction of some of my personal things from the cabin forced this. The cabin is a year around home that is heated by radiant solar in the floor. Solar is also used for most of the electric so I ask that you be mindful of any tools or devices being left on continually or overnight. For those long nights in the winter we are supported by the grid with a generator backup system if needed. Please do NOT touch any water or heat settings as they are preset. If you find that the preset temperatures are not suitable, please contact me directly BEFORE you change anything. As you leave the cabin, even briefly, turn off all lights and fans and unplug kitchen appliances. You may notice an orange color in the bathroom shower and sink and in the kitchen. Large amounts of sulfur in the water is to blame. Internet is available, instructions are on the side of the refrigerator. I also have a wall mounted television with a DVD player and you may bring your computer to hook up to the TV if you like. There are movies to view in the red cabinet underneath the television.
