Description
Welcome to our large Dalsland cottage built in the mid-1800s. Overlooking meadows and forests, you'll find the tranquility of a summer gem not to be missed. An outdoor shower (hot water) provides a wonderful experience and in the landscape of the thousand lakes, there are also plenty of swimming opportunities. The magical nature offers both berries and mushrooms. Visit the artist collective Not Quite in the old paper mill, one of Dalsland's main destinations, and be inspired by both art, good food and stone oven baked pastries. The space The spacious house has two floors. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms with 2+4 beds, one of which is a bunk bed. Downstairs, there is a large living room with dining area, radio and Chromecast TV, however, no Wi-Fi = analogue SVT channels, as well as a toilet and a fully equipped kitchen with, among other things, stove, fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee maker, kettle and wood stove. The small cottage has 3 beds in one room, a stovetop and a washing machine. Pillows and duvets are provided, but bring your own bed linens and towels of all kinds. Hot water is available in the house, only cold water in the small cottage. A simple shower with hot water is available outdoors (summer time). Morning coffee is best enjoyed in the morning sun on the veranda or balcony and in the large cozy garden you have access to barbecue and outdoor furniture as well as a larger trampoline with safety net. Guest access Guests have access to all spaces except for certain locked cabinets, woodshed and earth cellar. The playhouse will be demolished after the season is over. Various playhouse gadgets can also be found in the small cottage. Other things to note Fengersfors is a picturesque mill town about 20 km from Åmål where calm prevails and inspiration flows. The country store has a well-stocked selection and generous opening hours and nearby there is also a flea market with a focus on children's clothing. Not Quite, one of Dalsland's main excursion destinations, is housed in the former paper mill about 1 km away. Here you will find a fantastic environment with exhibitions, artists' studios, a café and a stone oven bakery. Immerse yourself in the history of the mill and don't miss the impressive paper machine. Experience forests, lakes, mushrooms and berries along nice trails with magical views. Dalsland is the landscape of lakes and there are many lakes nearby. The largest is Knarrbysjön with a large grass beach and diving tower about 1.5 km from the house, inside Fengersfors village. About 2 km in the other direction is Lake Ärr, which connects to Dalsland Canal. Playgrounds are located at Knarrbysjön and beyond the nearby soccer fields. Film history just around the corner. Ronja Rövardotter was filmed, among other places, on the Sörknatten ridge just behind the house. Smala Sussie, Bröllopsfotografen and Offside are also filmed in the area. In Åmål, about 20 minutes by car, restaurants, cafes, shops, museums and leisure activities await. The children can skateboard, kickbike or test their gymnastics and parkour skills in Åmål's Actionpark. Those interested in golf can get to Forsbacka Golf Course, about 20 km on lovely roads through the woods. In Bengtsfors, Gammelgården, Western Sweden's largest open-air museum, awaits, and a boat trip along Dalsland Canal down to Håverud with rail bus back. Or rent a dressin and go to Årjäng. Visit Baldersnäs Manor in Dals Långed or pet moose at Dalslands Moose Ranch a few miles away. More tips are welcome!
