Welcome to our cozy and newly renovated home in the heart of Gjógv, one of the Faroe Islands' most idyllic and historic villages. This two-story house, with its charming sloped ceilings and four delightful, snug rooms on the first floor, was carefully renovated in 2023. It offers a unique blend of modern amenities and traditional Faroese culture, highlighted by local art adorning the walls. The space On the ground floor, there is an entrance hall, kitchen, and living room. On the first floor, there is a bathroom and four small bedrooms. There is also a little nook with a mattress in the hallway, ideal for play and for children to sleep in. Here are some highlights: Gjógv means Gorge: The village gets its name from the stunning 200-meter-long sea-filled gorge. It's a must-see natural wonder, offering incredible views and photo opportunities. Hiking Trails: There are numerous hiking trails around Gjógv, including paths that lead to the highest peaks on Eysturoy, such as Slættaratindur and Gráfelli. These trails offer spectacular views of the island's rugged terrain and are perfect for nature enthusiasts. Shopping and Essentials: While Gjógv is a serene and somewhat remote village, essential amenities are within a short drive: Grocery Stores: The nearest grocery store is located in Eiði, about a 22-minute drive from Gjógv. For a broader selection, you can visit the two larger grocery stores in Norðskála, which are approximately 26 minutes away by car. Local Restaurant: The Gjáargarður Guesthouse in Gjógv has a restaurant that operates seasonally from May to September. We recommend checking the opening times in advance to plan your visit.
