"Dawn Rose Cottage", a "Smoke/Tobacco/Candle/Pet Free" 600 sq ft 1-1 ground floor DUPLEX apt is located in "The McNeal House", a charming "arts & crafts" 1936 Texas Prairie Home", in the Pasadena Gardens Historical District, an older CULTURALLY DIVERSE RESIDENTIAL/COMMERCIAL/INDUSTRIALcombined neighborhood containing City Hall, the main Police Station/Library/ Post Office and a 24 hour Wal-Mart as well as several eateries with the majority offering authentic "South of the Border" cuisine! Located in Pasadena, the name of which means "Crown of the Valley" in the Native American Chippewa language, 500 sq.ft 1-1 self-contained "Dawn Rose Cottage (DRC) " comprises the smaller right side (facing the house) of "The McNeal House, a 1936 Texas Prairie Home", an "arts & craft" DUPLEX home that was built by the very handsome oil roughneck "Milam Alton McNeal (Mac)" for "Lucille", his very lovely "Miss San Antonio of 1932" bride! All electric "DRC" contains a bay window, high ceilings/crown molding, two (2) ceiling fans, original hardwood flooring, its own washer/dryer which has a three (3) times usage limit per week, a full bathroom with claw foot tub & shower, towels, hairblower, a separate bedroom area with a vintage wood frame bed with a FULL size mattress/linen & new bed pillow with each booking, a desk & matching nightstand, a kitchenette area with sink/28" full size fridge/microwave/hot plate/coffee maker/toaster/table & chairs/dishes/cookware/cutlery, two (2) AC units & a electric faux fireplace heater, a wood picket privacy fenced /gated side covered deck with grill/small shed, carport parking for one (1) vehicle and a shared covered front porch with swing fronted by a rose bush/ lemon bush/ plum tree. The interior/exterior decor is Southwestern Cacti to commemorate Dawn McNeal Sanders, the builder's daughter, an artist in New Mexico whose childhood bedroom is now the living area for DRC and for whom the cottage is named and whose artwork is displayed in the way of one framed cross design clay pottery. Originally bought by the Host/Owner in August 1991, "DRC" has undergone many renovations and continuous upgrades, modernizing its unique features while at the same time preserving and maintaining its historical look and feel. With its 1936 planted overhanging pecan tree, the several fruit trees mentioned, the local church bells, the song of the manyTexas Mockingbirds and the side deck perfect for morning coffee, DRC has a peaceful and country like ambiance. Water/Electric/Wifi/Yard Maintenance/Light Monthly House Cleaning/Pest Control are included in the booking. Off-Street Covered parking is for one (1) compact car at the right side of the gravel driveway. Larger vehicles/trucks and all vehicles of visitors of Guest must park on side Randall Street. Please note: There is no room on the interior for an exercise bench/equipment and no provision in the electrical breaker box for any other electrical appliances other than Guest laptop and other than what is provided by Host. "Step back in time and enjoy the charm of Texas past with the comfort and conveniences of Texas today!" Guests have sole use of "Dawn Rose Cottage". The only common area with the apt next door where the Host resides with her three dogs is the partially covered gravel driveway. The private entry to "Dawn Rose Cottage" is located at the private side covered deck. The carport parking is for a small compact vehicle only at the far right side of the gravel driveway behind the 1960's vintage camper. . Larger vehicles and vehicles of visitors of Guest must park on the street. Host parking for her truck is at the left side of the gravel driveway next to the camper. Although I reside on the property and am often present overseeing repairs and yard maintenance, performing monthly pest control, cleaning the exterior, etc., I do not interact often with Guests. The neighborhood is located in the heart of Pasadena's Historical District, once known as the Pasadena Gardens District, due to the lush foliage and abundance of rose bushes which mimicked Pasadena, California, hence the same name; and way before that, as "Pokerville", due to the numerous poker games after Texas won its independence from Mexico, set up to entice Northern Americans to play to win land grants to help settle the area. The neighborhood today is a residential/commercially combined one, close to City Hall, Police Station, Library, Post Office, shops and eateries, with many, such as "The Bistro & Grill", owned and managed by International Chef Jose Perez whose ecclectic menu of Spanish, Indian and Mediterranean foods is without comparison and not to be missed, especially by busy Guests who, lacking time to cook, desire custom prepared meals to take home! As there is no bus service in Pasadena, a vehicle is needed. However, many eateries and shops as well as the library and post office are within easy walking distance. Hobby Airport and Reliant Stadium is only 20 minutes away! PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO DRC HAVING A STONE WALKWAY AND STEPS TO THE ENTRY DOOR, AND A HIGH VINTAGE CAST IRON TUB, GUEST OCCUPIES DRC AT OWN RISK AND HOST IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PROBLEMS THAT MAY OCCUR FRON THE USAGE OF THE WALKWAY, STEPS AND TUB BY THE GUEST OR BY ANY VISITORS OF THE GUEST ALSO PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO CENTRAL AIR AND DRC IS COOLED BY TWO AC WINDOW UNITS (BEDROOM, LIVING/KITCHENETTE AREA) AND HEATED VIA TWO (2) FLOOR SPACE HEATERS (BEDROOM, LIVING/KITCHENETTE) AND ONE SMALL COUNTERTOP HEATER IN THE BATHROOM. THE ONE IN THE LIVING AREA IS A FAUX FIREPLACE ONE. AS THIS AREA USUALLY HAS MILD WINTERS, THESE HEATERS ARE MORE THAN ADEQUATE. HOWEVER WITH RARE FREEZING TEMPERATURES, AN ADDITIONAL HEATER WILL BE PROVIDED BUT HOST CANNOT GUARANTEE IT WILL BE ADEQUATE AS EVEN WITH CENTRAL HEAT, STAYING WARM IS A CHALLENGE. House Rules, which are also present in a binder in the apt, include but are not limited to: -Although the washer/dryer unit is an older model, Host keeps it in excellent repair! -Premises Interior/Exterior is Smoke- Free/Tobacco-Free/Candle and Incense Free/Pet Free (no pets, candles, incense, cigarettes, cigars, pipes, snuff, chewing tobacco, vapor products are permitted on the Premises interior or exterior -Overnight Visitors are very welcome but only one (1) at a time and only with the prior knowledge and consent of Host and an additional charge of $15 per night per overnight visitor will be charged, payable via Airbnb prior to visit. -A non-optional mandatory monthly interior/exterior pest control and drain treatment service is performed by Host. - Use of washer/dryer is limited to three (3) full loads a week - Due to Premises being part of an historical 1936 "arts and craft" "pier and beam" Texas Prairie home with foundation crawl space and located on a busy street and furnished with top heavy antiques and glass collectibles, "Dawn Rose Cottage", per National Child Safety Regulations, is unsuitable for bookings with younger children age 12 and under. -No large exercise equipment such as benches or any appliances other than Guest laptop, printer, flat iron, clock, CD player, chargers, radio, electric shaver to be used due to possibility of fuse overload.
