Domaine des Terraillous, friendly cottage

Artist's house, a real palimpsest rehabilitated with resilience by an architect. The blue-tinted interventions add a layer to the building to generate new uses to live collectively, with family or friends. It is an immersion in the history of the place, experienced in art and sport. A place made to be together from evening to morning! The space The house is on one level, to the east, a hallway distributes two spacious bedrooms, a bathroom (including bathtub, shower, two sinks, toilet) and the dormitories in a row. The dormitories accommodate 11 beds divided into sleeping areas in the privacy of wooden screens. Three bathrooms and a toilet complete this space divided into two rooms. In the center of the building, a living room - dining room revolves around a magnificent masonry fireplace. The sub-spaces cover several uses: eating, relaxing around the fire, playing board games, reading, listening to old cassettes, or contemplating the paintings that line the walls. The kitchen is equipped for cooking for several people and for large meals. It acts as a pivot between the living spaces and the outdoor spaces. The barn in the west wing of the house is accessible in the mid-season to play apprentice bartender and enjoy a dance floor! A barn at the western end of the building is a covered summer guinguette area. Beach decor on real sand, tables and movable benches, various wooden games to share between young and old. A generous bar connects with the sandy beach that spreads in the garden and draws a beach volleyball/soccer/sandball court facing the panoramic landscape of the valley. Further away, an above-ground swimming pool is integrated in continuity with the other facilities. Pétanque courts complete the outdoor leisure facilities. The one-hectare garden surrounds the house, following a differentiated treatment, to the south a flower garden, to the east a walk in the orchard, and to the north a grassy park with an unobstructed view. Guest access A large parking lot directly accessible from the access road will allow you to park close to the house while enjoying a car-free view from the garden. Other things to note At Terraillous we offer an adventure in a vernacular architectural universe. We are not interested in perfection or a clean slate; on the contrary, we glorify the trace and charm of the elements that make the place unique. The defects are the decor of an architecture thought and tinkered with modesty on a building commemorating ancient local know-how. What pre-exists is preserved, what works too, we do not make new for the sake of new. We offer you an experience in a manifest architecture, which carries the message that we can preserve and transform rather than systematically throw away.
