Description
Step back in time and into the prospector’s dream in bustling downtown McCarthy, Sin City of the Wrangell Mountains. Live like you’ve struck literal gold and your pockets are full of nuggets. After a hard season of mining the glacial streams you’re ready for a trip to the Golden Saloon and a feather down bed. Come rest your weary head in this authentic dry cabin in the coolest dead-end town in Alaska. The space This cabin is located in downtown McCarthy., walking distance to everything that this historic little hamlet has to offer. 🔶Things to know before booking 🔶 ✨This is a truly off grid cabin, there is no electricity or running water. ✨Solar and battery operated lights are provided but we recommend bringing a portable power bank for your personal electronics. Headlamps are also helpful. ✨We might have the boujiest outhouse in the valley. But it’s still an outhouse. It’s about 20ft from the front door of the cabin. ✨We provide a few gallons of potable water in jugs for your stay. There is also access to our community drinking water spring a short walk from the cabin. ✨The cabin has a propane cook top as well as basic cooking utensils. This should be treated as one step above camping - dishes by hand with water from the jug, trash hauled back with you at the end of your stay and most importantly be BEAR AWARE with all of your food storage. ✨There is no private vehicle access to the town of McCarthy. There is a foot bridge and two shuttle services. Bikes are great if you can bring them. ✨Verizon and Copper Valley telecom are the only cell providers that cover the McCarthy valley. If you don’t have one of those. You won’t have service. ✨There is no WiFi in the cabin. But a few of the local businesses offer it free to customers. ✨Linens and bedding are provided for two people. There is also a cot and sleeping pad if you need for a third. They’ll need to bring a sleeping bag. ✨Dogs are allowed but please be respectful of our cabin and do not allow them on the bedding or other soft goods. ✨ The wood stove in this cabin is stocked and functional but is always subject to Forest Service burn bans. Guest access The whole space is yours! It is in downtown McCarthy and you will see other cabins pretty close by. Most are used by locals or businesses. The outhouse and cabin are for your private use during your stay. Other things to note I cannot overstate how remote McCarthy is. This is a fully wilderness experience nestled in the middle of a very quirky little community. I was raised in this valley and I am available to answer any questions and help in anyway that I can but also remember that services are extremely limited and it’s always best to be as self sufficient as possible. Be prepared for a big adventure and this place will not disappoint.
