Careful attention to detail was incorporated throughout the build, using local Teak wood for all doors, windows and cabinets, and the beautiful multi colored grain, Suriya wood, for all bedroom furnishings. The 5 bedrooms have attached modern bathrooms, with rainfall showers, solar hot water and mirrored vanity cabinets. Each room boasts an intricately carved super king size canopy bed with a luxurious 11 inch foam mattress, and a delicate hand made, tie back mosquito net, trimmed in white lace. 2 large bed side tables are found on either side of the bed. All the rooms come standard with brand new AC units and fans. A uniquely designed cupboard adorns the wall, as well as a live edge wood work desk if your vacations requires it. Each room also has its own patio and seating, for your early morning tea/ coffee ritual. Your balcony is the perfect place to witness nature at its finest hour. Listening to the calls of peacocks and the resident langur monkeys, the marsh and tree birds, and the neighborhood roosters as the world around you awakens. Barefoot Bungalow is equipped with 2 kitchens, one upstairs and one downstairs. Both have a 5 burner stove top with oven, 2 full size fridges with top loading freezer, a 10 kg washing machine, and cabinets that hold a well stocked supply of plates, bowls, cooking pots and pans. There is a pantry storage area off the lower kitchen for groceries. There is also a refillable 19L water cooler that provides cold water at the push of a button. There are 2 uniquely hand crafted wood dining tables and a living room area with a 55” Sony TV with cable . There is SLT fiber Wi-Fi through the Bungalow. Barefoot Bungalow offers an infinity pool off the main living room and patio area, overlooking the rice fields. There are relaxing sun beds to while away the afternoons, and plenty of garden space to unwind with a book in a hammock, after a long day at the beach. There is also 2 large clay pot BBQ’s available for use. Unique features of the Barefoot Bungalow include an indoor garden space in the living area, a 13 foot carved door entryway with the largest Teak wood doors in town, hand made garden stepping stones crafted from local leaves. Best of all is the feeling of living amongst the treetops when staying on the upper floor. Barefoot Bungalow is the perfect balance between architecture and nature. We are also the only Green villa in Hikkaduwa. Guest access Whole house, pool, garden areas, shed for storing luggage, covered parking for scooters/ bikes. During your stay From November through April we live on site, and are available as needed. From mid April to October, we have a caretaker that manages the Villa and is available to guests. We are available on Whatsup year around for any questions. Other things to note We do have our resident dog Coco on property. She has been raised by us since a puppy, and is a sweet and gentle girl. She loves pets and treats and scooter rides. Our caretaker takes care of all her needs. Additional information that would be helpful for your stay. ☆ The showers are solar showers, so it takes a few minutes to get hot, but when it does, they can be scalding. ☆ The safe is locked by entering 4 numbers and hitting the lock button. To open the safe, just enter the same 4 numbers, and the safe will open. ☆ There is an upstairs kitchen for your use if needed, with a tea & coffee station. ☆ We have a cold water dispenser for your use in the downstairs kitchen. Bottles are provided as well in the cabinets upstairs. ☆ It's a 15-minute walk to the beach. This area is known as Narigama Beach. Our caretaker can call you a tuktuk or arrange a rental scooter if needed. You can snorkeling at Turtle Beach or at the coral sanctuary. ☆ Hopefully, you get to see the resident monkeys. They are usually around early morning or sunset time. Please DO NOT feed them. ☆ The WIFI passwords are displayed on table in the room.
