Mommas Farmhouse
Description
Welcome to our childhood home. This house was built in 1916 by our great grandparents. Some of the furniture was refurbished by our mother around 1971 when our parents decided to remodel the farmhouse and set up roots for my brother and me. You can read about the history of this farm and the contents in each room, if you wish, in a collection of memories that my mom blessed us with around 2011. The space Bedroom #1 has a full size bed, bedroom #2 is a king size bed, and bedroom #3 has 2 twin beds. Guest will also have access to a pack and play. There is a ramp at the entrance to the house. There is a very small step up from the back porch to the kitchen area. The house has an eat in kitchen, a living room and a den. This picturesque retreat offers just what you'd expect in a historic Tennessee farmhouse: Antique furniture, plenty of space, and incredible views. Enjoy gentle breezes from the spacious porch. Unplug, unwind, and create lasting memories in this rural haven. It is a working farm so during the summer, you may get to see us harvest hay in the fields. Depending on the time of year, there may be new babies on the farm as well. The home has space heaters throughout the house for the winter and window air conditioners for the summer. There are ceiling fans in every room as well. If you are so inclined, the house offers a wonderful cross breeze when the windows are open. Guest access Feel free to walk around the property but please be mindful of uneven surfaces. Also, please do not enter the various buildings that are on the property. Other things to note This house is rich in history. There are contents that offer a glimpse of that history, but they also hold sentimental value for us. Please use care when exploring these things. Please keep in mind this house is over 100 years old and with that comes many blemishes that may seem like inconveniences to some but remind us of the lives that lived here and many happy memories. We are a work in progress to bring some things up to date. We feel the affordable price makes up for the upgrades that are needed. Currently, the 4th bedroom or as our mother lovingly called it, the sewing room, is not available. The property is 35 miles from downtown Chattanooga. We are 30 miles from Fall Creek Falls State Park. And 1 mile to the Cookie Jar Cafe open Tuesday-Saturday.
