Romantic luxury shepherd's hut with stunning views
Description
Luxury shepherd’s hut in rural Herefordshire. A perfect retreat to escape and unwind, the cosy hut overlooks stunning views of the surrounding Herefordshire countryside. The hut has a full-size double bed and wood stove for those chillier evenings. Adjacent to the hut is another character building that boasts a luxury walk-in waterfall shower, flushing toilet and heated towel rail, fluffy towels are also provided. There is also a well equipped kitchen which includes a Nespresso coffee machine. The space A unique and comfortable place to stay set in an elevated corner, with its own outdoor space, of our large private garden where we are fortunate to have many varieties of birds including owls, woodpeckers and red kites, etc. In the mornings, as the sun rises far on the horizon over Cotswold Hills, you’ll be greeted by the dawn chorus whilst, in the evenings, you may even see some of our wild hedgehogs as they busy themselves about our garden. The location is well away from main roads and shops. It is the perfect space to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet deep in the beautiful, unspoiled Herefordshire countryside. There are many footpaths directly from the hut. One such footpath takes you to the very top of Garway Hill where there are amazing 360° panoramic views, this route passes through some stunning wild woodland where, in the spring, you’ll be rewarded with the sight, and scent, of thousands of wild bluebells. As the path opens up you’ll likely see many of the hills wild ponies and be greeted by the delightful sound of the skylarks high above. This walk is a particular favourite of ours and takes about 30 minutes to reach the top. There are several charming local country pubs within a four mile radius. The City of Hereford and the thriving market towns of Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth, are all about a 30 minute drive away and boast some fabulous cafés and restaurants. Slightly further afield, you’ll find Symonds Yat, renowned for canoeing, and the wonderfully scenic Wye Valley with its many riverside walks. Other notable places include the Forest of Dean, popular for mountain biking along its many miles of redundant railway lines, and Hay-on-Wye which has become a world centre for secondhand bookshops as well as hosting its renowned annual literacy festival. It’s worth mentioning here that, as an alternative to the main Golden Valley road to Hay-on-Wye, there’s another route that goes via The Gospel Pass. This route, whilst quite tortuous in places, takes in some absolutely stunning countryside and no drive along it would be complete without stopping at Llanthony where, amongst the remains of the Priory, you’ll find a quaint little Bar in the cellar serving light lunches and refreshments. Anyone who’s particularly keen on walking would also enjoy hiking the Offa’s Dyke path in The Black Mountains.
